F2 feature race strategy

Recommended Posts

Hi

I know I made a suggestion for this game that the f2 feature races strategies were mixed up like they are in real life so in the game all the cars starts on the same compound of tyre then pit on 2 laps next to each other to use the other tyre. Whereas in real f2 some cars will try a different strategies like starting on the harder tyre and running long to be fast at the end of the race.

I just think it adds to replay value if the strategies are mixed up otherwise it feels the same as the old game and there is not much enjoyment to playing through the f2 bit on career mode.

@BarryBL said it will be raised to the development team for future projects so has this not be included on F1 2020 as that would be a shame.

After doing 3/4 of the f2 career mode season all the ai do the same strategy for the feature race and it appears that the ai use 2 sets of tyres in practice as they all do a pit stop during the sprint race where they should not be doing any pit stops at all and the annoying bit for me as I would like some difference in the feature races is that the ai will split starting tyres some will start on the softer tyre and some will start on the harder tyre so why can't this be done for the feature races?

@BarryBL do you have an answer to if the ai have mixed up strategies for the feature race thanks

Yeah, F2 races are really boring it seems. No overtaking, no fighting and no strategy-games. This needs a big improvement.

After watching the Hungarian GP f2 races we definitely need mixed up strategies for the f2 as look how brilliant the f2 races were because of the mixed strategies

@BarryBL could you please look into this and give some information if this will be changed

thanks

with the ai strategies all the same for the feature races it feels like the f2 section is just a copy and paste from f1 2019 and if there were mixed strategies like there are in real life there it would add a awful lot to the game just to mix it up a bit and add to the replay value.

i wonder if when the 2020 f2 season gets added if mixed strategies in the feature races can be added @BarryBL is this possible to be added

thanks

I'm winning tons of sprint races due to awful IA strategies. Sometimes I'm running 8th, then everybody pits, I don't, and I win. Yay 😐

Continuing to ping the Community Managers multiple times for the same suggestion will not get it sent in any faster.  Rest assured, posts in here get seen.  Just because you aren't getting an answer doesn't mean Barry hasn't seen it.  Patience, my friend.  🙂

Interested to see that 10 of the cars started on the soft tyre whereas the other 12 started on the hard tyre so almost a 50/50 spilt for the feature race and not everyone doing the same at Silverstone last weekend

Surely having split strategies can be replicated on the f2 part of the game instead of everyone doing the same strategy either with a patch update of when the f2 2020 cars and drivers are added to the game

So this weekend for the Spanish GP f2 feature race 15 cars started on the soft tyre and the other 7 started on the hard tyre

The tyre compounds are wrong on the f1 game for Spain the game has the medium and hard tyre when it should be the soft tyre

This info is for codies incase they want to add mixed strategies for the feature race so they know how many start on each tyre

Hi @BarryBL

below are a couple of screenshots of an f2 sprint race from Spain 100% distance after full practice and qualifying and there are a lot of cars that start the race on a different compound ( the medium tyre which is the wrong compound for the game) and during the sprint race they make a pit stop to the harder tyre whilst some cars start on the harder tyre.

is there any way this can be replicated to the feature race instead so that the the f2 side of the game which I enjoy has some more replayablilty please

thanks

@ojhowells they only do this in the feature race because they incorrectly use 2 of the harder tyre in full practice. That means there's not enough life in the harder tyre to run the full race so they revert to the softer tyre from quali. In real life F2 the sprint race is run on just the harder tyre and will occasionally switch back to the quali softer tyres if strategy permits (like Spain last week with the tyres going off).

Hi I know that when full practice is chosen the ai use both sets of tyres in that session when in real life they only use 1 set.

all I am asking codemasters is please can we have mixed strategies like the screenshots for the feature races instead of the sprint races as in real life some cars will start on the harder tyre to run long then be quick at the end of the race. I don't think I have ever seen in a real life gp2/ F2 race the whole field in a feature race all start on the same tyre at the start of a feature race.

For the Belgium f2 feature race 11 cars started on the soft tyre whereas the other 11 started on the medium tyre so a 50/50 split between the 2 tyre compounds

Wouldn't this been good if it can be replicated for the f2 feature race on f1 2020 with the ai doing different strategies like In real life.

is there a chance this could happen when the 2020 F2 cars are added to make it worth while to keep playing the 2020 season.

So for the Italian f2 feature race 10 cars started on softs whereas the other 12 started on the medium tyre so again the grid did different strategies during the race

I know that mugello isn't on the game which is a shame as its looks an amazing track but for f2 to show off the mixed strategies that f2 uses 11 cars started on the soft tyre whereas the other 11 started on the hard tyre so the same number of cars started on the alternative strategy instead of the usual strategy which is start on the softer tyre then go on to the harder tyre instead of the other way round

Also @BarryBL the tyre compounds are still wrong for Spain will this be sorted?

For the Russian f2 feature race 10 cars started on the purple supersoft tyre whereas the other 12 cars started on the yellow medium harder tyre

Is there any news on when the 2020 F2 cars will be added to the game?

and still @BarryBL the tyre compounds are still wrong for Spain.
