Camera stuck facing backwards at race starts & replays

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Hi,

1.      Whenever I start a race in solo/career or multiplayer, the camera is always facing the rear when the light sequence begins. Then just before the lights go out, it switches back to the front TV pod which is what I set in the settings. The rear camera is also shown on flashbacks and just before the lights go out on a flying lap.
2.       1.03
3.       Multiplayer, Career and Solo races
4.       Happens every time. I don't know what the recreation steps are.
5.       I tried unbinding the 'Look Back' button assignment on all enable inputs (i.e. wheel and keyboard). I recently got fanatec pedals several days after f12020 release and if I remember correctly before the new pedals the problem wasn't there. However, I tried unplugging the pedals and the problem still persists.
6.       Wheel - Logitech Driving Force GT, Pedals - Fanatec CSL Elite (no loadcell)
7.      https://youtu.be/j1A12TBaUe4

Hope you can help me!

Thanks!

Are you using the LGS for the DFGT?

Also what is the Fanatec driver you are using for the CSL Elites (and assuming you are using the Clubsport USB adapter)? Should be at least v311x64

no, I have a program called Logitech Profiler to change the wheel settings. Should I try LGS?

It is my understanding that the DGFT is supported by LGS 5.10 which is linked in my earlier post. The LGS allows for profiles.

Delete the in-game schemas you have created. Uninstall the software you have with Geek Uninstaller.

Reboot and install LGS, attaching the wheel and rebooting as necessary.

Check for correct operation in LGS, delete the hardware_settings_config.xml and verify Steam files. Launch the game and configure the wheel as you want in game.

Yeah followed the steps and still the same problem... I don't think it has to do with the wheel because on the first day I got the game the problem didn't exist. For the Fanatec Pedals I have the latest firmware.

Hi,

I've had this issue since in istalled the game and while browsing this forum for a solution I came across a few threads with the same issue but without any solution yet.

1.       A detailed description of the issue. Please include any error codes here.
At every race start, no matter what game mode, the camera is facing backwards till the lights go out. The same issue appears in flashbacks and replays.
2.       What version of the game you are using (Shown on the start screen in the bottom left corner of the screen)
         V1.3 PC
3.       Game-mode?
         All game modes
4.       What are your replication numbers? Minimum test attempts are 4. Please also add EXACT replication steps for us to try too.
         It does it every time.
5.       What troubleshooting have you attempted? Please always try to attempt to fix the issue
I've unassigned everything I don't use in the bindings, tried using "look forward" but it does nothing. When I go into photo mode the free camera is also facing either at the ground or at the sky when inverted is selected. When in photo mode if I turn the camera view to cockpit it keeps the TV pod cam and facing backwards unless I select autofocus and then the overlay for where to focus goes straight down to the bottom, I can only move it left or right with the joystick on my wheel. It seems to me that something is giving the game the signal to look up or down but the joystick on my wheel which is supposed to control that is dead center. In the control menu in the calibration tab a couple of button numbers are also shown but those numbers are higher then what I have on my wheel, I'll add a picture for reference.
6.       What peripherals are you are using (gamepad, wheel make & model etc)
I am using a Simucube OSW with a Fanatec Formula Carbon in combination with Heusinkveld Pro pedals.
7.       Any screenshots or video of the issue? If the video is long, please include a timestamp for when the issue appears.
I've added screenshots of all the keybindings and the link to the video of the issue is https://streamable.com/hpah5p

Hope this gets resolved soon because this frustrates me a lot right now.

Thanks in advance,

Frederic

So there is, my apologies. To troubleshoot, have you tried removing your custom control scheme and running a test on keyboard for example. Do you have the same results?

I've tried that but I can't edit the control unless I make a duplicate or am I wrong?

EDIT: Nevermind I see what you mean. I will try that and come back to you.

Mine does something similar - driver looks up until the lights go out. I've unbinded all keys below the driving keys, but it is still happening.

Looks like the game can't ignore some defaults or something.

Should be able to delete custom schemes. Or even just add the keyboard preset. In 'Options' if I remember rightly.

I have the same problem and many other people also report it.
Xbox one, near tmx pro.

It's just that for me and other people it occurs when we replaced the clutch pedal with the brake pedal. Clutch pressed = camera backwards - applies to the light sequence

Hi Barry, below are 4 clips of what I'm trying to explain. As I tried what you asked me to try I noticed a couple of things, I'll list them below.

  1. Since I my setup consists of a Simracingbay's Simucube OSW with a Fanatec Formula Carbon attached through an adaptor, combined with Heusinkveld Pro pedals, I'm pretty much obligated to use a custom control scheme. The game detects everything without issue but the standard bindings are not really useable. For instance, with the pedals, the brake is seen as the clutch and visa versa. This is just one example of many. So just as earlier titles of F1, I started of from the Keyboard Preset and edited everything to my liking, which never gave me any issues untill now in F1 2020.
  2. In the first video, as you can see, I already tried something different since you mentioned to try with just the keyboard. What I did was edit the control scheme of the Clubsport Steering Wheel Formula Carbon to set the buttons, steering and pedals right but without adding any keyboard inputs. As you can see there's a combined custom control scheme for the wheel, Simucube and pedals and the Keboard Preset 1 is also active without editing anything binds. As you can see the issue persists.
  3. In the second video I disabled the custom control scheme, by doing that the standard control schemes of all the inputs go active. Without editing any keybinds I repeated to see if there was any difference but again without success.
  4. In the third video I wanted to disable the standard control schemes of the wheel, Simucube and pedals but to my surprise, even when deleting the custom control scheme, it is not possible to disable them. The only way I'm able to use the Keyboard Preset 1 individually is by manually disconnecting my other devices.
  5. In the fourth video I disconnected my wheel, Simucube and pedals so I was only using the keyboard. As you proposed, this time it acted normal.
  6. In the fifth and final video I also wanted to show you that it's not possible to edit a preset control scheme. You cannot save it when editing, you can only save it as a new control scheme.

Now it's all good and well that the problem doesn't arise with what you suggested but this doesn't help me any further. As you can see even without adjusting any control scheme (which isn't even playable to be honest) the problem persist by just having my Fanatec wheel, Simucube and pedals connected. To clearify, the same problem occurs at race starts till the lights go out which I haven't included in the clips.

I hope this is clear enough for you to understand the problem which, by taking a look here on the forum, I'm definitely not alone in.

Hope to hear back from you soon.

Sorry for the delay on this one. We have a fix in testing for an upcoming patch.

oh wow didn't know others had the same issue. I actually fixed mine keeping the DFGT pedals plugged into the wheel but using the fanatec pedals in the game. Partial fix and probably not for everyone but hope the patch fixes it.

Hi there @Elfster85, I just installed the update and for me the race starts as well as the flashbacks work as intended. Give us a heads up after you tried it yourself!
