AI in rain too difficult?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Do you think that the AI capability in rainy conditions is poorly balanced in the current version?

I manage to fight equally with other drivers in normal conditions at 80%, however in the rain the AI is consistently much faster than what I am. Am I doing something wrong in terms of driving or setup or is it just the AI balance that is off?

You need to set up your car for rain.  I find the AI easier in wet weather compared to dry weather.

Increase ride height

Decrease brake power

Softer Suspension

etc.

That actually did it! Googled for some rain setups and immediately I was able to keep up with the AI! I had no idea that the rain setup would make such a huge difference.

Thanks a lot for your help!

I've never changed the ride height myself, so I'll look to do that in my next rain session.

Lower the transmission down to 50% seems to help.

Its a bit hard if you have a mixed race

You have weather forecasts for a reason! Compromise your setup to work in both conditions.

With a wet weather setup you should be able to destroy the AI in the wet. The balancing is supposed to be tested with default setups and dry setups and for longer distances where the compromise costs you more. Wet weather includes also transitional weather where the AI is really OP and takes into account different tracks and settings...

I find wet AI and car handling much better and bit easier this year compared to F1 2019.

Still, you need to have correct setup - I forgot to change front wing setting during pit from dry to wet tyres once and this stint was just awful 😄

the problem is not the AI. that can be solved via good setups.

the problem is : there is a cheat/patch that allows you to drive in rain as if it's sunny dry california surftime. about 20 sec faster than the rest.
in multiplayer you will never ever beat a driver using such a patch.

codemasters allows too many many cheats and patches like that - and thats brings the fun of online competition to the minimum.

PLEASE CODEMASTERS :
add a laptime control oriented on the real life "best laps" ... so that noone can use such cheats/patches in any multiplayer race.

lets be fair : WHERE is the fun when i can change handling into like it's dry?
for solo play at home time thats okay for the fun! times. but for online competitions it's a desaster that unrealistic times are possible.

look at my topic "unrealistic lap times"

another problem is, the AI does not make mistakes really. I was the only dude in Melbourne who missed the track (if you miss the track in MEL, then you loose a lot of time because of the sand and the gras) the AI passed it well on their train track. I have another rainy weekend coming up in Zaandvort, lets see how this works. I really would like to switch off the replay function, but as long as the AI sticks to their imaginary perfect line and never leaves it, I do not see why I am should be the only one who is making a mistake (i try to drive without mistakes, but especially in rain it is tough)….
