Keeno 0 Posted May 30, 2014 After playing Codemasters F1 series since F1 2010, I've noticed things that have and haven't changed visually. In my opinion, I feel like not a lot of time is being spent on particular tracks to make them look like real life as much as possible. The main two tracks I've noticed which have hardly changed since F1 2010 are Monaco and Silverstone. These are the two tracks which need a big visual improvement. I'll post examples of Monaco first what I think needs adding into F1 2014. I'll post the Silverstone improvements in a separate discussionMONACOTurn 1- Larger inside kerb than there is in F1 2013 Turn 1- Longer exit kerb than there is in F1 2013 Turn 5- Kerb which runs close to the barrier in real life. Not there in F1 2013 Turn 8- Traffic cone on top of barrier in real life. Not there in F1 2013 Turn 8- Fence on top of the barrier at exit of Turn 8. Not there in F1 2013 Turn 9- New building on exit of tunnel. Not there in F1 2013Turn 10- No small kerb on the apex of the right hander Turn 10- Larger yellow inside kerb in real life. Not in F1 2013 Turn 11- The barrier on the exit of turn 11 is significantly further backTurn 13- Chicane is tighter in real life so both kerbs can be rode. Hard to ride both kerbs in F1 2013Turn 16- No bollard in real life and a larger yellow inside kerb is there in real life Turn 17- No small kerb on the apex of the right hander Turn 18- Traffic cone removed from F1 2013 even though it never got removed in real lifeOther Improvements- Time needs to be spent looking and locating where all the different sponsor banners are around the track and use the correct sponsors in the correct places rather than just littering the track with F1 2013 banners. Obviously Codemasters won't be allowed to add the BetClic and Johnny Walker banners because they're advertising gambling and alcohol so maybe the F1 2013 banners can replace these but all the banners which Codemasters are allowed to show should be included. I've seen Tag Heuer and Zepter banners in previous Codemasters games but for some reason, they've been removed.Other Improvements- The asphalt is lacking road markings and should be included to add more feel of racing on a street circuit. Watching real life, the track is littered with white road markings. Feel free to add any more improvements to this thread that you think I've missed
APR193 0 Posted May 30, 2014 Do any of these "improvements" really matter? I'd much rather they focus their time on more important things than making curbs slightly longer/taller etc. For example, they need to get rid of the ridiculous bumps on the run up the hill after turn 1 at Monaco, and the banking in the tunnel etc. The kerbs aren't accurate on any track that I know of and to be honest it really is the smallest of a long list of problems with Codies F1 games. Keeno 0 Posted May 30, 2014 That's why I've said visual improvements. The kerbs are actually an important part in a racing game as it allows you to take the actual racing line. The bollard in the slow chicane is a big issue as you can't actually take a proper line without hitting it as it is right on the apex. Obviously there are other things such as the bump on the run up the hill but these are visual improvements that I think will make the game a lot more lifelike and show that CM will have spent a lot more time designing the tracks

In my opinion it would just be a waste of time and resources for Codies that would be much better spent improving other areas of the game, especially as it is all tracks (as far as I know) that the kerbs are wrong and would need updating
BoulderMark 0 Posted May 31, 2014 I kind of see your point on the kerbs but the cone and fence etc? Come on really? Is that going to make any difference to the enjoyment of it? As for the bumps up the hill and down to Mirabeau isn't that realistic? It's a very bumpy track in real life. Leave the bumps if you ask me it just makes things more realistic. I love having to pull out to the right on the descent to Mirabeau just like the real F1 drivers have to.

I love having to pull out to the right on the descent to Mirabeau just like the real F1 drivers have to. The bumps up the hill are far too exaggerated though. If you watch a lap of the game side by side with real life the track is really close other than the massive bumps up the hill and banking in the tunnel which aren't even close to the real thing
Keeno 0 Posted May 31, 2014 Like I've said before, I know there are many other things that need to be improved especially the AI and damage model but these have been covered before so I've just made this thread to cover track updates to make the game look a lot more lifelike. As for the bump going down into Mirabeau, it's there in real life so I'm glad it's on the game. I know it wasn't there in F1 2010. Maybe they should add a more defined bump coming out of the tunnel like there is in real life so if you take a wrong line or brake in the wrong place, you can lose the car like many drivers have in the past. Just to clarify, I've made this thread so that you can see the attention to detail is lacking by Codemasters and I've pointed out the details that are missing
Number44 0 Posted June 1, 2014 I Dont know, I think Codies havent done a bad job at creating the tracks to decent standard. We are all looking for perfection but it takes time.
moogleslam 47 Posted June 4, 2014 They just need to laser scan every circuit, so they're not all completely lifeless.

moogleslam 47 Posted June 4, 2014 Nope. You have to go to a sim like rFactor, iRacing, or Assetto Corsa to find laser scanned tracks. Once you've raced on a track in those sims that are laser scanned, you'll see Codemasters versions aren't really close to what the circuits are actually like. They don't always get it right Grid 2 and F1 2013 were good examples of that but generally up until last years catastrophes they did pretty well but I think they're back on track with Autosport though lets hope the same is true for F1 2014
