Ok, understood thanks for that.

screenshot_51.jpg.6ae4cddb964cb839bf5b07dd5f239a8d.jpgDid it used to capture the user-player's name, as the user is now also only identified as a player and a number.

Second thing is, the file names (left) and race data files are differentiated, though the player in the selection and race data  panes are still showing as player rather than player #.

Hi Ender, I just wonder if this particular problem above is still in your scope to fix. The missing player number is not visible on the race data pane to match up with the correct file. Makes it hard to find data for a specific driver quite easily.

Thanks for the reminder. I'll try to fix it for the next release.

That would be awesome. I'm promoting your software heavily in our league. It's only small about 50 members but a few are slowly starting to see value. The feedback has been fantastic so far but there's a few quality of life things like this that would lift it/

Another thing that's been mentioned is that it appears the first lap is not being recorded. As in from race start to the first time crossing the timing line?. So what is labelled lap 1 in app is technically lap 2 of the race and so on.

Similarly part of a lap is not recorded. Example if a car RET/DNF on lap 8, the last lap recorded would be labelled lap 6. (Actual race lap 7)

Thanks for your feedback. It's nice to learn that some people finds it useful ! I'm opened to any quality of life things. Just give me a list of ideas, here on in private, and i'll see what is possible.

A lap is recorded when the car cross the starting line. So if a car retire, its last partial lap is missed. It might be possible to to better but I didn't work on that yet. Similarly lap 1 can be a problem because it can depend on the position of the car on the grid. For me it's not an important issue so I didn't work hard on that either.

Hi @Ender0042

What language did you write your app in?

I’ve been trying to learn programming over lockdown, and I’d love to have a go at building a telemetry app as a project! Just wondering what language you used as I like your app a lot. 👍

It's C++ with the library Qt for the graphical interface. You can check yourself the code on bitbucket since it's an open source project : https://bitbucket.org/Fiingon/pxg-f1-telemetry/src/master/

Hey there.

I am checking out the app and am just struggling to get the basic functionality working for a race. Does this work if you are spectating? I seem to get it to track race data, but it just spams the log with "Waiting for a session ..." and doesn't record any files.

Here are the steps I am using:

  1. Open program
  2. Join lobby
  3. Wait for race to start
  4. All drivers is checked
  5. Click start

I have also tried clicking start while in a race lobby and it seems to have the same issue.

Let me know what information I can provide to help debug or if I am just doing something wrong.

Thanks!

I never tried it to while spectating a race so I'm not sure. Maybe other people can answer ?

Does the track name appears on the top right when the session is started ?

It does indeed.

Hi Ender,

in private lobbys the Game is capturing normal informations like the gears, speed or the tyre temperatures from OTHER players but not the tyre wear or the fuel for example. Is this normal or can it also be switched on?

The data on other players can be restricted in online games. Each person can make them public or private in the telemetry settings of the game.

This is explained here : https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/50942-f1-2020-udp-specification/ (at the end of the first post).

Hi Ender the new version has got some great features and thanks for fixing the driver name issue. Just want to check I get a CTD when I select and de-select the 'distribution' toggle on any variable.

Second question is why is it that I can see my own loss of traction %, but not that of other Human opponents?  (same with tyre stress, fr/rear locking and a few others) The Others have public telemetry set to ON btw.

The files are supposed to be generated when the a.i. pass the finish line. It doesn't work for ghosts in time trial though.

Thanks for your feedback, I will check that.

For your question : some info in the udp data are only available for the player, so these variables (i.e. traction, brake locking, ...) are not available for a.i. or for human driver in a multiplayer game.

@Ender0042, first of all thank you for the amazing tool.

Secondly, I see you referring to issue from the codemasters side on Ghost times. On the other hand Telemetry Tool by ikorein somehow captures ghost time. Maybe it is still possible?

I just checked the data to be 100% sure.

The only thing I receive for ghosts in time trial is the car position coordinate on the map. No speed, no time, no distance... It might be enough to display a trajectory but nothing else.

I don't know what ikorein is doing exactly in his tool (his code is not public), but for pxg it would be very complicated and time consuming to get something useful.

Please help, I don't understand instalation steps

Windows

  • Add a custom build step in Qt Creator:
  • Command: %QTDIR%/bin/windeployqt.exe
  • Arguments: "App\release\PXG F1 Telemetry.exe" --dir package
  • Copy "PXG F1 Telemetry.exe" in the package directory
  • Install and copy the OpenSSL dll inside the package directory

Also I type in IP in quick instructions and get connecion failed

This is the instruction to compile and install from the source code...

Just follow the text when you click on the "quick instruction" button.

This app has become indispensable for me to play the game. Do you think you will be updating it to support F1 2021 when it comes out?

Yes !

  • Thanks 2
