Renegotiation every 4 races?

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Had to try and resign my number 2 driver after 4 races...

In real life 1 or 2 year contracts are the norm. 4 race contracts unheard of.

Mick Schumacher rejected my renewal offer. Guess he preferred Formula 2...

It's weird i'm on Austria season 2 and had only twice to re-sign contract with Hubert in the mid-season and after the season end

This is disapointing with a transfer market like system in place I thought youd sign people to certain length contracts 😕

Yes so did I but there didnt seem to be an option to offer more money or change contract length. Bizzare.

Kinda off topic, but does anybody know how the contract negotiations go on this year's Career mode? Are you approached by competing teams? What terms (qualy and finish position objectives etc) can you change this time?

I have yet to give it a try but I wonder how this new drivers market was implemented there.

If we had realism we would be doing our contract for the season ahead around Britain, not trying to sign for the second half of the season.

I haven't seen any contract negotiations and I think I'm halfway the season. De Vries is still with me. Probably because I pay him a ridiculous amount for his poor performance :classic_rolleyes:

The same topic has been started in the Suggestions forum. I also replied on that topic that I do not understand how this can be a thing. I hope they change this very soon, as I don't want to swap drivers in the middle of the season.

Mid season changes do occasionally happen. Prost was fired by Ferrari and replaced by Morbidelli. Jordan in its early years seemed to change drivers every race (Schumacher being discovered at Spa). Most recently Albon and Gasly swapped, but that was “in the family” so to speak. I would like to see almost no mid season changes, unless the driver is woefully underperforming (driving the 3rd best car but has no points).

So I had my first renegotiation and I don't get how you would get rejected by your F2 driver? The game actually tells you what to do to keep him. Just pay them more than they want and you are fine. De Vries surely knows when to perform. Finished 15th for once and then he starts asking for 3m instead of 2m. Can't fire him because I can't even afford Lattifi. So I paid him 3,1m 🤷‍♂️

Mid season changes do happen. But not because drivers run out of their contract after 5, 10 or 15 races. They get kicked out because they underperform. That's why there is a buy out clause. Midseason transfers should be very rare and only occur when a driver is scoring bad vs his teammate.

I finished 2nd season and driver moves only after season 1 - Grosjean retired, De Vries in Haas. In season 2 im fired Mick Schumacher, replaced Raikkonen. To Alfa Romeo move Russel, Schumacher move  Williams. After end season 2 Vettel retired and more move drivers. Verstappen > Ferrari, Ricciardo > Red Bull, Perez > Renault, Matsushita > Racing Point. Others stand. Looks for me OK. Sorry for my bad english thanks

It gave me the option to renegotiate contract with Schumacher after 4 races as his contract had apparently ended... As soon as I pressed the X button to start the negotiation it told me he wasnt interested. Really silly, that's his f1 career down the toilet then...

What do you people do with your second driver? Have you people unlocked a torture dungeon for personnel that does not perform? :classic_biggrin:

It looks like you need to perform well from the start to keep your F2 driver aboard. I had some unrealistic results with AI difficulty resulting in top 10 finishes so I guess my acclaim is high enough. But I notice my team mate is really looking to get fired because his market value is now raised up to 4m and we didn't get to the 2nd season yet. At this pace I really should look out for a more experienced driver if I want to couch up that much.

You help a young guy fulfill his dream and once they are in formula 1 all they see is dollars 🤷‍♂️
