End of Season Driver Transfers

Recommended Posts

How have driver transfers after 1st season worked out for people? Just wondering if I should expect Latifi to join Mercedes or Verstappen to sign for Haas?!

Not got to end of season yet but I’m very intrigued as to who is going to get this seat.

After my first season:

Grosjean and Raikkonen retired

Mercedes: Bottas, Hamilton

Ferrari: Verstappen, Leclerc

Red Bull: Ricciardo, Albon

Renault: Kvyat, Ocon

Racing Point: Russel, Stroll

AlphaTauri: Perez, Gasly

Alfa Romeo: Vettel, De Vries

Williams: Latifi, Giovanazzi

Haas: Magnusson, King

Mclaren: Sainz, Norris

MyTeam: Me, Aitken

Thought they were some interesting changes. Happy with the results.

Yeah I think some might sniff at the Vettel move but it's not hard to imagine a context. Ferrari keen to move on as in real life, Verstappen unhappy with Red Bull progress, the two are a marriage in heaven (possibly) but Vettel not quite ready to retire as he apparently will in real life, wants to pull a bit of a Raikkonen inspired move and keep racing for a another year or more. To be honest, could likely see him go back to Red Bull proper in those circumstances, but it's not too far a stretch for a fictional race world.

The best one I've seen so far. It all kinda makes sense.

What do codies base the system on to get some of the unrealistic moves.

I wonder if the my team and my career have 2 different systems.

I had a pretty good one from the file I've reached season 2 in:

Mercedes: Hamilton/Vettel

Ferrari: Verstappen/Leclerc

Red Bull: Ricciardo/Albon

Mclaren: Sainz/Norris

Renault: Kvyat/Ocon

AlphaTauri: Gasly/Stroll

Racing Point: Perez/Giovinazzi

Alfa: Bottas/Matsushita

MyTeam: My driver/Kimi

Haas and Williams stayed the same too.

Do the people that get the crazy moves notice them having bad years? Bottas dropped back to Alfa in mine but he had a pretty poor season one whereas Gio had a great year (in part to him being really quick on Xbox version 1.1 for some reason!).

Actually positively surprised with my transfers so far! I started season 1 with De Vries in my team but hired Norris for some better results in season 2:

Ricciardo actually moved to Mclaren to fill up Norris's spot, Kimi retired and got replaced by Magnussen, while De Vries got a spot at Williams allowing Russel to move up to Haas.

How is Norris performance compared to De Vries'? I have the Dutch in my team and I'm on my penultimate GP for season 1. I was considering hiring either Russel or Norris but I'm afraid it would be a waste of money if my car ain't that competitive yet.

Fixed that typo for you.

Just kidding. Haas is humble Ferrari, I like them.

I wish RB would sign Alpha Tauri drivers and things like Russel/Mercedes, Giovinazzi/Ferrari would be realistic.

Nice thought but we have some example, which shows, that the drivers can choose other Teams instead of their Topteams like RB, Ferrari or Mercedes. For example, ocon, a Mercedes Driver, who wents to Renault. Or Sainz, a former Torro Rosso (Red Bull) Driver, Who wents to Renault, Mclaren and now Ferrari. The only Team which is the most time related to their 2nd Team drivers is, red Bull.

I am happy enough, when the game simulates driver changes under the aspect of their driver skills, their Age, their acclaim and the grid positions of the teams in the end of the season.

That's my original question really, is that what happens? Or is it completely random?

I turned them off. Hate the transfers.

Is there an option to do this somewhere?

I was dissapointed to see that none of the teams changed at the start of the second season. Did I overlook some option??

Somewhere in the game settings from the main menu screen.

I see it when starting a new team yes, thanks for that.

By default it is set to on and it's locked for changing (is that correct?). In other words, it may just be coincidence that no-one changed...
Can I see the setting somehow inb a running MyTeam career? Perhaps in a config file of some sorts?
