Your Worst Race So Far

Recommended Posts

Title says it all:

Mine is MyTeam, Vietnam GP.  Voluntary retirement after 45 laps, 2 wing changes, lapped by leaders twice and lapped upto 15th place.  Breaking point came when I crossed the finish line to start lap 45 and immediately got the 'your teammate is pitting' notif.  Lapped by my teammate would have crushed me! Then I clipped the wall coming out of the S bends so knew it was time to park up.

Austria Season 2, I was driving in Schumacher's slipstream when he suddenly brake like 250m from corner (turn 3) and I smashed my front wing on it, and he retire from engine damage (Schumi is my team mate)  In the next lap I run over my broken wing and puncture my all left tyres, spun on turn 3, after that i was 1.5 laps behind leader XD so i choose to retire from the race cause I didn't see point in continuing the race. This was the only race that i had that took money from me and not give me any XD worst race ever for me

Mine was in the Dutch race when I was in 11th place and just been lapped by Hamilton who in lead, when safety car came out so we formed up behind it with me directly behind Hamilton and 10th place who had been 4 seconds ahead of me now nearly 1 lap ahead of me. This resulted in last 20 laps been a waste of time for 11th and above as we had no chance of points finish (I ended up 15th).

Hanoi, Lap 18.

Comfortably sat in third position, dozed off in that boring ass long straight, missing the braking point by about 50 meters. Full brake, locked up, crashed. Terminal damage instead of what could've been my first podium.

This circuit will never make into my next seasons. I can't find any rythm in it and is as exciting as watching paint drying on a wall. Another Tilke masterpiece.

Season 1 Baku

First time that Grayon Tri-Star Racing managed to get to Q3 with a 6th time in Q2. There was rain expected for the 2nd and 3d slot of the race, so I had compromised my setup a little bit, and actually expected to suffer in qualifying, but I managed to do really well. Unfortunately, I couldn't quite put a lap together in Q3 and ended up in P9, while my Q2 time would've been good for P7.

Come raceday, I actually started alright, getting into 7th after 2 corners when the safety car came out. After 1 lap behind the safety cars the rain started to come down but the track was not yet wet enough for a change. The safety car went in, and we drove yet another lap when I decided to go into the pits for a change, while the AI kept going for another lap. I won a lot of time due to this, and got myself to P1.

At this moment it was raining hard and the SC came out yet again for a collission between AI further down the field. So I had to stay behind the safety car and this is where the drama began. I had lowered the tyre pressure too much, which caused them to not heat up properly behind the safety car. They were 50 to 60 degrees Celsius and I started to create wheelspin en locking brakes to get some temperature in, and it seemed to work. But when the safefy car came in, it all went down the drain. I couldn't heat the tyres in S2, because we drove to slow. I got overtaken left and right and lost 6 positions in under 3 laps.

By the time the rain stopped, I was down at P18. Had to change the front wing and lost loads of time during my in lap. Came back on the soft tyres and it took me 3 or 4 laps before I got in a rythm, leading to dropping even further down to P20.

When thr tyres eventually turned on, I was flying. Overtaking cars left and right, kept improving my fastest time and got to P14 in just over 8 laps. I was faster than everyone besides the top 7 and it made me realize that I could have gotten big points, if I had been able to get my intermediate tyres working. I've learned my lesson. It was fun to drive in P1 for 5 laps or so. But the result was really not what it could've been.

Has to be Baku, started in pole leading the whole race and finished last. Engine problems on the last 2 laps put paid to a really good race, gutted would have been first podium for my team. Could have been avoided if only I had paid attention and swapped out parts.

Season 1, My Team, Silverstone.

Race started in light rain but dry tyres were the fastest. Managed to take a sweet 6th place when big ol' pal Jeff called in for a change in strategy. Didn't know about the bug, but I knew something was wrong, but since he called I thought it was time for inters, so I radio him about the weather and he wasn't sure which tyre was best for the track. I thought that since it was getting worse, it would be inters time. When I got out of the pit, one lap later, instant regret, I was running so slow, but decided to keep going in faith of the rain getting worse. It never got. Managed a 19th place going Past Latifi and two cars retired.

Learned a valued lesson about strategy this day, and promised to go better next season.

season 1  spa.

Qualified near the back of the field, got bumped and damaged a front win at La source, sped into Eau Rouge, understeer onto the outside curb, spun in the barriers...terminal damage.

Race lasted a whole  2 corners!

My Team Mode at Monaco

Started a very respectable 14th, started on mediums and got to 12th, clipped wall halfway through 1st stint and lost 3 seconds a lap with a damaged wing. Pitted and came out 20th where I eventually finished

My Team in Spain was my worst race so far. Was running on the fringes of the points and just behind Perez. Ocon just came out of the pits, with him and Perez colliding at the first corner. Part of Perez's front wing came off and hit my front left tyre, which gave me a puncture. Trawled back to the pits and ended up finishing 20th after I passed Latifi and Russell retired.

I can’t help but feel that flashbacks were invented to help with some of these problems.

A little part of me dies every time I need one but I’m just not skilled enough to last a GP without them yet!

My worst race so far was Bahrain on Season 1. I qualified and practiced much better than Australia and was on course for a decent race, making up places at the start and running in the top 10. However some slight contact with Ricciardo cost me my front wing and a poor two stop strategy choice put paid to any of those lofty ideas, and I finished 16th.

I do like having the ability to use flashbacks, especially at places like Monaco and Vietnam.

I didn't use it in my example in Spain mainly because that sort of thing can happen in real races and I was doing well in other races so I thought I could do with a bit of bad luck.

Vietnam is deffently the worst track for me just can't get into the groove of that track . The Neverland's track is awasome . I'm really gutted theatre not racing there this year affter my race there . Deffently need more tracks like that in game

I have bad eyes and the strain creeps in over a 100% race distance and errors come and they don't fit with my fantasy of being an F1 driver so flashbacks woohoo:classic_love:

Never really got the whole flashback thing or maybe I am just a masochist. Could have a real rant but not the place.

As long time racing gamer I'm very happy with flashbacks.

I see it like this:

I am not an F1 driver. My world is not set up aorund me to make me the best video game F1 driver.

In fact, it's often set up against that.

The phone will ring

The door will go

The 4 year old will leg it across the wooden floor with wet feet (seriously glad controllers are wireless nowadays).

All things that would not happen to a real driver in a real race. For all these things, I find Flashback to be perfectly justified and a godsend.

It should be in all racing games honestly.

I´ve played theese Codemasters F1 games ( more commited : ) since 2016 ( mostly career mode (s) and I still haven´t mastered the Monaco GP 😄 Usually I'am running the AI level on 90-95 but for Monaco I have 88 and still 8/10 times I touch a wall or another car. I´ve practiced a lot but clearly not enough. And I do prefer the strategy: the more laps in practise and even in Qualify the better for getting that "feeling and flow" just like IRL but I admit that I just **** at that track 😂🙈
