I've actually spoken with someone who works at Codemasters Birmingham. I'm not gonna say their name or department they work in because I don't want to give Codemasters the chance to have an excuse to kick anybody out (as I know this has happened before), but this is what they said:

"Codemasters know the game has lots of issues and glitches, but they still get lots of sales so they don't worry about it much".

"They also decide to make a new game every year for bigger sales rather than DLC to fix issues or update to a new season".

Make of it what you will, but is this really a company who cares about their market?

This is a big shock, and I don’t think this philosophy is the way to go. I have only bought a few dlcs from games in the past to test and see how it feels for me to spend money. However, if a game has so many bugs, like F1 2015, they should go work on them as quickly as they can. Maybe all of us could tell them the reasons in buying F1 games? Or do they already know the reasons?

I'd take it with a grain of salt imo, maybe the higher ups see the customers like that (where is that not the case?) but those making the game, pour their heart and soul into it I'd bet and I reckon they are probably hurt by the idea that a game they worked on is being received poorly by some consumers.

This is a bit of a tough post for multiple reasons, as there is no way of me to prove that either of those quotes are the truth for instance. I'll just want to remind everyone about some of the rules (as I really hate misinformation)

A Thread, Comment or Posting must: Be Accurate (where it states facts.)
A Thread, Comment or Posting must not:

  • Impersonate any person, or misrepresent your identity or affiliation with any person.
  • Given the impression that the Thread, Comment or Posting emanates from Codemasters or any of Codemasters partners if this is not the case.

Now that I've gotten that out of the way, I can say what I was supposed to say 😁 Codemasters is a company like any other. Some employees may despise it, while some employees love it so much that they've a tattoo of the CM logo! That's generally why you always have to look at job reviews with a pinch of salt for instance.

Just fix ur game...I’ll tell you a few main things that are HORRIFIC with this rubbish game...

the amount of bugs is a joke I can’t even count how many there are.

Tracks are still not being laser scanned...

the amount of auto-spin kerbs are a joke and it’s not sim at all

the track limits are TRAGIC

1st gear is still being used and is faster...

The handling model is far from ‘sim’ like you guys say it is...it’s floaty and arcade

All customisation options have Been limited or now cost money, seriously?

THE BIGGEST WASTE OF MONEY EVER FIX YOUR GAME

Indeed. I play on the Ps4, and so far, I wish they could fix the time trial leaderboard. Sometimes the times do not show up. But thankfully, my times are recorded. I have only played grand prix mode and my team. In my team, I am at FP2 in Vietnam, and so far I have had no issues with the game. More customizations for my team would be great. I don’t see how is this game poorly made... so far.

The handling model is 'arcade'?

You would put the handling in this game alongside Ridge Racer, Burnout and Daytona USA?

I'm sure you'll have no problems completing a 100% race around Monaco with simulation damage and no flashbacks then.

Although it's nice to see it confirmed and although I take this being truthful with scepticism (as anything on the net needs to be taken these days), this is how all companies in this industry works these days. People want, want, want and will always buy faulty games just to have it. Then moan after. Then buy the next game. Then moan as it's buggy and....well you see where I'm going.

For you it is a nice game then.

I can tell you the game on XBOX is a big big nightmare unfortunate.

So its hard for you with only on PC to talk about those problems, because the game works fine on PC

Thanks anyways

I also have it on xbox with wheel and have had almost no issues with it. Not to the point where I feel offering to list the issues (which are all already listed in the technical forum, kinda what it's for) will instantly make CM sit up and take notice. No it's not perfect but they're working on it as fast as they can considering the current situation we're all facing. I'm finding it tough enough wfh, I bet CM are too. It has only been out a couple of weeks and already had 3 patches. 2019 ended up with 22! Yet apparently that game was so much more enjoyable? thanks to those patches no doubt. Let them work on fixing it instead of wasting their time having to trawl through numerous pointless posts.

Er my background is predominantly iracing and it's somewhat hard to take your initial post as seriously when you complain about wasting 70 euro's on the F1 game and then now say you are returning to iracing where with the greatest of respect to them, they have a number of issues themselves.

For what it's worth, i hear a lot people complaining about bugs, but i certainly have not encountered many of them. Certainly not to the point of making the game unplayable as some people who like to overreact are claiming.

Hello guys!

I feel like i need to write something about this year's game. After testing the beta in 2019 and 2020. My expectations were good for the new game.

With all those new features and other stuff it looked very promising so i decided to go again for early acces for 70 euros.

This was my worst decision ever.. After the game release the game is FULL of bugs, errors, loading screens and in game bugs! After testing the beta this was really the last thing i would expect, But we got it...

If you guys want i can make such a big list with BIG BIG errors in this game, the game is just unplayable at the moment EVEN after the patches. Everything has just been worse then ever! And let me not talk about the track limits or the game just stopping ALWAYS after 15 minutes.

For me this game is even more broken then FIFA 20 release and with the new patches it looks VERY very unfortunate for this year's game.

Now is my question what is CODEMASTERS gonna do about this? All what we see now is they thinks how amazing there new game is... But it is the worst f1 game in years!

Let me not start about the pitchcoins or season pass, like i said there is to much wrong!!!

PLEASE see this codemasters, otherwise its going only downhill for now. And i hate to say this....

All those problems are on the Xbox One Console.

Thanks for your time and have a nice day,

You do know that other people have access to the game and are now able to check for themselves what the state of the game is? If you say that the game is unplayable I know you are actually lying as I finished my first season yesterday. So the game is absolutely not unplayable.

So yes I would want a list of what makes this game unplayable because I read about big problems and then I read something about pitcoins. 🤷‍♂️

I don't know what F1 games you played before but I'm thinking it wasn't a codemasters game. Yes there are bugs and the game crashed a few times on me but unplayable? 2 weeks after release most of the errors I've seen in the game are already fixed. The biggest annoyance for me that rests in the game is not one they have control over like the black mercedes liveries.

Is F1 2020 Unplayable? Absolutely not. Is there room for improvement? There always is and will be

Okay, I have to MAJORLY interfere here. Whereas people have every right to an opinion on the game based on their own individual experiences, this quote above is simply not true, and something I've taken offence to (Which as most regular forum members know takes a LOT).

I absolutely believe that this is not just incorrect, but exactly the opposite. I've worked at Codemasters for nearly a year now, and can confirm that the guys and girls here care immensely about the product and improving the game. If not, why would we add a totally new mode, something that only fans could dream of 3 years ago (I can say that because I'm a fan too!) There's a commitment to a product here that I've not experienced in my working life before and, to be honest, it's made me 'up my game' to get to that level.

@AoiAsahina, you are more than free to mention names to me in Private Message's and I can go and confirm this statement with them directly. I simply believe this to be totally untrue.

It feels way more arcadey than last year’s title imho.
Last true arcade racer I played was need for speed high stakes, so yeah...

but you know what? I actually do 100% simulaton damage league races for years... so what? Why are people always referring only to singleplayer omg.

I swear, the words 'arcade' and 'unplayable' have completely lost all meaning.

Just give it a few more years (or months who knows), I expect "arcade racing" to be used for ACC, R3E, iRacing, RF2... :classic_laugh:
