While I was experiencing the odd issue, the game was a joy. Patch 1.05 seems to have made the game unplayable in my user account, I cannot load My Team or Career without it crashing after this mornings online services update (reported) and even if I could the patch has made all but the primary account undriveable due to a problem with the controller switching the camera view when turning in sharp corners. Or in cockpit mode it engaged the look to apex at full (which makes me motion sick) (also reported).

I have every confidence the game will eventually be patched to a state where it will be fun again, in the meantime I will go on with my other pursuits and maybe run some set up tests under my son’s account. At least his game is playable and enjoyable for him and he believes it was money well spent.

Like, I don't even know where to begin with stuff like this. How do you reason with someone who is so blinded by hatred of a games company for some bizarre reason that they will describe a game with handling praised by actual, real-life F1 drivers as 'complete arcade with cartoon physics'?

There is literally nothing I can say that I think will allow you to see how ludicrous that argument is.

 

Few points:

One. 'Blinded hatred' is in fact just harsh criticism of the company that makes same mistakes over and over for one godamn decade.

Two. No real-life F1 driver have yet praised f1 2020. Some comments were made about f1 2019 game though, like, Max tellingLando to 'throw the game in the bin'. 

Three. You don't have to answer to every single post that don't satisfy your line of thinking, mate.

I find it quite interesting myself the comparison.

I fall into the 10+ year member category now on iracing and despite iracing being labelled as one of the better sims and these F1 games labelled as "simcade" i find the development of the handling on this game ( especially this year ) to make me find this my go to racing game now.

Both have developed over the years but the value for money in the use i get out of the codemasters games can't really be beaten.

My only slight gripe with the F1 game is there isn't an option to force cockpit only views really so that you could create a league and know for sure that like iracing everyone is racing in the same view and thus on an even playing field. But either way, its hardly a deal breaker.

Do we have any update on future patches? F1 2020 has by far the most bugs I’ve ever come across in a video game. I can understand the frustration displayed by many.

All I’m saying is when one of your top esports drivers (Marcel kiefer) even ways he doesn’t enjoy the game, you have to look at yourself. There is no point listening to half the people on this forum because they simply don’t understand and will just suck up to the game, but us who take the game seriously, league race, and want to play at a high level can all see how poor the game is. The lack of commitment from codemasters (atleast it looks this way from the outside) is very disappointing.

Again, this is the issue. For those dissatisfied few, everything works in absolutes. Nothing can be 'pretty good' or 'acceptable, but could be better', it's all 'complete arcade' or 'you're saying my opinion is completely obsolete', or 'this game is unplayable'.

If you cannot see that it's perfectly reasonable for people to correct you when you base your opinions on inaccuracies or call you out when you throw around terms like 'completely arcade handling' or 'unplayable' and get this upset by it, then I honestly don't think there's anything I can say that will make you and those who feel as you do see sense.

comparing an Esports driver to an actual F1 driver who has spent most of their life on real simulators and has done grand prix racing in real life? If the game is being praised of the car's improvement in handling by an F1 driver, that is something! For sure it's not perfect and I don't think anyone here is saying that, but just because some don't enjoy it, doesn't mean people who do shouldn't be listened to. Everyone should be listened to and I'm sure CM will take note of ALL feedback they get and see what can be improved in the future.

Your so so wrong. For casual players who play my team then fine, the game is an upgrade, but for everyone who is pushing to play at a high level or hopefully make it to esports one day like myself, the game is not enjoyable. Just because George Russell made ONE tiny comment on the 2020 beta doesn’t mean the game is good. It couldn’t be further from a sim honestly. Not sure why codemasters got the license from f1 but it’s a recipe for failure.

In my opinion the game isn’t a disaster.

As I’ve already said, I haven’t experienced any of the game breaking bugs that others have, so my opinion of the game isn’t going to be affected by them?

For me the game is perfectly playable, but just needs a bit of a polish here and there.

I've played various motorsport games over 30 years. Balancing what i would call realism and the ability to just pick up and play rather than get to bogged down in set ups etc i would say F1 2020 is the most enjoyable game i've played including iracing.
