The "Free" version goes up to Level 38, and will only reward you with 2,500 pit coin. This is enough to buy just 1 car livery from the item shop! Therefore there is no way to earn the 9,000 pit coin required to unlock VIP by gameplay alone, even after grinding the challenges. This is a little greedy of Codemasters. The selling point of the 2020 game is the new "My Team" mode which allows you to customise and design your own team and car. Yet we are given very few options to choose from and seem to need to pay real money for liveries and helmet designs. Codemasters, why are the bulk of the customisation options hidden behind a paywall? I won't pay real money for liveries and glove designs that you only see during a 5 second cut scene. I'm just angry that content that was seemingly available in the advertising is locked behind a paywall with no way to access it without forking out more money. The selling point of My Team is to design your own livery, yet we get 3 designs to choose from and have to pay for the rest. i've just bought your game!! Nurburgring, Portimao and Imola have just been added to the calendar. Now, if Codemasters were to make a DLC pack of circuits to race on, I'd happily pay for that. Customisation is not all about pitcoins though, as there is a range of customisation options available right from the start and more are unlocked as you go up ranks even without VIP status. Flicking through the VIP customisation options that are obtainable there's nothing to me that stands out as amazing and a clear step up from what is available to a 'free' player, and some frankly look awful to me! There is also a lot more to the My Team mode than customising the appearance of your car and driver, and personally it's the other aspects that appeal to me. I pre-ordered the game and without knowing I was going to I got 10,000 pitccoins with it, enabling me to unlock the VIP section of the Podium Pass. I really can't see this having any significant impact on my enjoyment of the game at all. Oh, and note the pre-order price was £55 (on consoles) whereas now the game can be bought for £10 less.
