notsomahsoom 5 Posted July 25 1. I took photos from the photo mode while viewing my highlights. The PNG are transparent. I opened them in photoshop to confirm this. A hexdump of the PNG file showed that the data does exist within the file. But my guess is that the alpha values are set to 0. 2. PC 3. 1.05 4. Unranked 5. 8. just take a photo in photo mode from highlights. 6. Couldn't find any option in game. Thinking of making a python script to set the alpha value in every pixel to confirm my hypothesis. 7. Xbox Controller 8. Photo Attached
notsomahsoom 5 Posted July 28 It seems there is some issue with the photo mode because I was able to view the photos using a http://panoramaviewer.1bestlink.net/ 360 degree viewer. So, it seems to be retaining some settings from the 360 degree mode.
TeenierNeilb69 73 Posted July 28 (edited) @BarryBL I get the same issue when running DX12 I took some stardard photos and they were fine, so I thought I’d be clever and take a super resolution photo 23000 x etc. and the png files came out black (tranparent probably as reported above) and now when I try standard photos the same happens, black png files. Something got mangled and remembered. I am now on 1.06 but the problem existed before with 1.05 (i.e. the problem persisted through the update so it appears to be a retained mangled setting) SO I turn off Steam sync (whether that matter or not I don’t know) but when I run the game in DX11 mode I can take good photos again. But when I return to DX12 the pictures created are blank again. I would hope there are some clues in here to lead the developers to a simple cause and fix. Example thumbnails of picture taken with DX11 left and DX12 right I have just run the risk of trying a super resolution photo and 360 and 360 stereo scopic photo in DX11 and they work fine and also the standard still works afterwards. But when I switch back to DX12, still not working. Edited July 28 by TeenierNeilb69 Update following trial of super rez and 360 on DX11
TeenierNeilb69 73 Posted July 29 Some further troubleshooting and replication issues. I fully uninstalled the game and downloaded again. Exactly the same it works for DX11 but not DX12. I asked @steviejay69 to try in on his installation (he's never used Photo mode before) With DX12 he gets the black blank .png files, but with DX11 png files are fine. So it's repeatable and doesn't appear to be anything to do with previously performed activities such as Super Resolution or 360 image types (as I was suspecting it was something I had done). So it appears that when it did work for me on DX12 we were at game patch 1.03. But something at 1.05 and 1.06 broke something. Obviously it could be other concurrent Windows updates also breaking something. A new dxdiag attached here. Perhaps a dxdiag from @steviejay69 might help if you can't replicate at codemasters as it might be something we have in common. DxDiag29_Jul_2020.txt
steviejay69 1,100 Posted July 29 Not much to add apart from similar cards but different drivers, different W10 and yes can replicate in DX12 but DX11 OK.

vfxMike 1 Posted July 31 I think any kind of overlay will make it transparent. I have the Steam fps counter on and any photos have a transparent square where the fps counter is.

TeenierNeilb69 73 Posted August 1 I guess DX11 was okay because I hadn’t enabled that version for discord overlay.
TeenierNeilb69 73 Posted August 1 Tests seem to show same issue doesn’t happen with DX11 and discord overlay. as tested by @steviejay69

Mars023 1 Posted November 26 November 26, 2020. It is some overlay issue. I switched to a GEFORCE game filter to change the appearance of gameplay and my images became "transparent". I turned off the GEFORCE game filter function and image capturing is back to normal. Hope this helps.
steviejay69 1,100 Posted November 26 This is always going to be an issue. GPU overlay (GeForce and Radeon overlay) Steam overlay Comms overlays (Discord) Is it a Windows issue because W10 is **** with window focus jumping all over the place and overlays and modern apps just not liking existing in the same screen real estate? Tedious and needs sorting.
