Should i be the one to break it to Mike that George Russell used ABS on the 2019 game...

Can’t wait for ‘hardcore’ gamer Mike to laugh at George Russell for his clearly inferior driving skills.

quick question though am i right in saying all you get out of weekly events is a trophy or is there something else like i don't see how you could angry over someone winning a virtual trophy because they may have used an assist like racing line i use it but i don't completely follow it like austria turn 3 from watching a video on george russell talking about a hotlap i have followed what he says on actually avoiding the apex and to not hit the curb. and what defines an elite gamer on racing games like should i be expected to be an elite player am i considered one who when i race in cockpit view with no hud and i have a fanatec racing wheel and i use no assists and i use a mod to make my screen look like i'm wearing a helmet.

Yes.

Is it a little frustrating that some people game a game by multi accounting or cheating. Possibly.

Is it worth getting so annoyed that you need to spam a forum with the same complaints making it sound like it's having a detrimental impact to your own well being. Probably not.

Having it on doesn't mean it has to be followed. The driver in question must feel they get a benefit or they would have it switched off.

I agree. I imagine some use it as a way of indicating a braking zone or corner is coming up, much like how some opt to use T-Cam to see the apex easier.

I don't see the issue either really. Assists are allowed in the weekly events, so then there's nothing to say about people using assists. In my race I lost a bit in the start, probably because the other guy used TC, and that's fine. I would have overtaken him hadn't I spun out in the last chicane due to dirty air. That was my mistake and mine alone, I can't blame his assists for that. I ended up 16 seconds behind him but I beat him with about 5000 points because I didn't use assists and he used them all. Sure, had I taken the start I would probably have wone the race and not spun out and gotten a higher score but it is what it is. Could have redone it of course but why even bother, I have nothing to gain from it. It wouldn't have changed the outcome, still would have been in the top 5% so...

Using cheats for better grip is another story, they're not a part of the game and they shouldn't be. So, petro1319, saying that they can use cheats if they want is not something I agree with at all. Assists that are allowed, sure, but no cheats.

And if someone has multiple accounts, I don't see the problem with that either. You can only drive one at a time anyway and if you want to spend the money to have more accounts then do so as long as you play by the rules. Why even whine about ending up one place further down because someone has two accounts. There's no difference in price if you end up 10th instead of 9th. Just get better then and beat both accounts next time.

For the record, I wasn't saying they should be allowed to use cheats, I'm just saying nothing stops you from using them if you want to.  So, if you want to be that guy who cheats.... so be it I guess.  I think it's stupid to be honest, but I just think it's just something you have to accept in this mode.  It seems rampant, and likely not something they can detect and remove from the boards.  The only thing I was trying to say by that is there's not really a way to stop them, so it is what it is unfortunately

My guess is it is used for that purpose, in the heat of the moment it can be easy to miss a braking point. Much easier to see a coloured line on the track surface itself. Though it has already been pointed out that its only a referance. To be quick with the line, you still have to be quick in the first place.

Us hardcore gamers do not respect Assist users when it comes to competing.

Using no assists doesnt make you a hardcore gamer, it just makes you a gamer that prefers to use a different set of options to someone else. Its that sort of elitist gate keeping attidute that is getting peoples backs up.

I have played racing games since 1989, back when it was just 2d sprites. I have played on everything from keyboards, to old style gamepads with only a d-pad and 2 buttons, to joysticks, to modern day game pads with analog sticks, and racing wheels. And one thing has held true through all that time playing racing games, fast is fast, no matter what is used.

This is why, even today, there are people holding top 10 times in Dirt Rally 2 on a keyboard. This is why there are top racers in iRacing STILL using a 10 to 15 year old Logitech DFGT racing wheel, and why people can absolutely dominate the racing esports scene on a game pad or a wheel. Those people have learnt to be fast through repetative practice with their chosen input method.

The fact you used phrases like "hardcore gamer", shows the issue at hand, is 100% a you problem.

I fully agree with you. I've also played different racing games for a long time, ever since 1983 with Pitstop on the C64.

It's a little like the discussion some make that FFB makes you faster but honestly, I don't think it does. I haven't gotten a bit faster with my new FFB wheel compared to my old one without. What's made me faster is practise and more practise. Our brains, even my 53 year old one, learns and adapts. My teenage years in karting and then some budget touring car racing later on probably means I already have it in me, it's just a matter of adapting those experiences to a new situation.

I was never the fastest on track and I probably never will be fastest in the game either, but I'm having fun which is what it's all about. Taking a game to seriously is a bad sign in my view. If the competition is so deadly serious, why not go for the esport series?
