Suggestion: DLC packs > microtransactions

Recommended Posts

Here’s a serious suggestion:

I wish in the future installments CM would find an alternative way to generate extra income instead of microtransactions, Podium Pass.

I get the need for more revenue, and I’ll gladly pay for more content, but not like this.

1. I only play championships, Grand Prix and online in a private league, where we use the official F1 2020 cars. So non of these extra purchases have any value to me whatsoever.

2. I find the Podium Pass to be intrusive and a bit obnoxious, to be honest. It’s mobile gaming territory.. in a € 80 game!

3. It’s a bit childish, emotes, seriously? And the car liveries don’t look that good, to be honest.

like I said, I have no problem paying extra for quality content. Why not have dlc packs, or a season pass?
just from the top of my head..

  • Classic car pack ( 60’s-80’s)
  • Track pack,  last years tracks that didn’t make it to the new seasons (like Hockenheim for example) [WRC 9 does this].
  • Extra invitationals/challenges.
  • Extra championships.
  • Senna-Prost avatars.
  • Last years cars.

You already have all this stuff, right?

Anyway, I’m sure you would come up with more and better dlc packs like mine, but it’s just an example.

It would make me spend some extra cash on the game, as the the in game currency doesn’t. Also it wouldn’t be as gross as mtx in a full priced game.

Anyway, just a suggestion from a long time fan and parent.

I would gladly pay for Hockehiem and Sepang as they would be both usable in F1 2020 as Hockehiem was in F1 2019 and Sepang was in F1 2017, so they are both usable with the current game engine and could be slotted in.

I take note from what PC2 did with their DLC's, Ferrari pack for example, with Ferrari cars from through the years and Mugello track, or Spirit of Le Mans with the track recreated from the 70's and cars to match with the Ferrari / Ford rival cars for about £8 which for me is well worth it.

Could do the same with F1 games for tracks like Monza, Monaco, Silverstone etc. Not all of them obviously haha that would get annoying, but maybe a special one for a DLC focus, Classic Monaco with a full grid of classic cars and maybe some special commentary / HUD overlays.

I agree Podium Pass is largely uninteresting, at least to me.

On the topic of PC2, what do you think about the looming disaster that is PC3?

I'll put it this way, no Indy 500 full race with updated Indycars, and no full length Le Mans with multi class, day/night cycle and weather, is a no buy form me.

If these things are in it, with updated graphics and some new features (actual full indycar grid, more cars on track at Le Mans for example) then it's a no brainer.

We'll see I guess but from what i've seen this is as far away from PC3 as can be. It doesn't have pitstops I read?!? Too boring I guess. *dubstep breaks out*

I have a suspicion that your age means you're not really the target demographic for many of the features you've commented on, just as I'm not either.

Still a young parent 😄, and I enjoy playing games myself, but you’re right. My kids are te target demographic, but I still pay the bills. It’s part of the reason I have a problem with this “free to play” revenue model. It’s kind of a gross way to make money.

I agree, PC2 had a great season pass. I know F1 is a yearly game, so you can’t expect the same level of content, but something to that extent, extra content even if it’s from from past F1 titles, would be way more interesting to me.

Yep no pitstops also can't even drive out in practice from the pitlane you are dropped onto track. Has weather cycle but the tyres 'magically' change for you. Looking at the graphics of the gameplay video of PC3 in an indycar at Laguna Seca the graphics seem the same just they've splattered the place with PC3 logos plus they cleverly removed the really ugly HUD/UI from the video too
