Getts0388 66 Posted July 28 It has been a very long time since Codemasters has released a Indy Car Series version of a racing game (2003 I believe). I would love to be able to drive at Indy and Laguna Seca in a current style Indy car, aero-screen & all . CM has done it before and it's time for the series to come back to life. A perfect weekend for me is having all three top NASCAR series, Indy cars andF1 cars all racing on the same weekend. I currently can run all three NASCAR series and F1 races during any said weekend (Pre-Virus/included tracks that is). If I just had a CM Indy Car series game for the PS4, I could run all of them as the real series do. Maybe next year I will be able to run all three on my new PS5??? I sure do miss not letting up on throttle and driving through the corners at Indy.
Nightfire1964 161 Posted July 28 It is strange how indycar has no video game itself I heard there was some talk of Indycar talking to different dev teams but haven't got really far
KNT2011 214 Posted July 28 IndyCar Series 2005 on PS2 era was the last one, and it was a riot! Loved it. Did the Indy 500 as a survival (horror?) mode so many times. A hideous yellow flag bug (game could not figure out where everyone was meant to be on restart so endless yellow would follow) was almost game breaking but insane sense of speed, great crash replays and while not great graphically, the attention to detail made it worth returning to over and over. Running Indycar at Indy (and Texas ofc) on Project Cars 2 is the closest we'll get these days and while flawed, it's not a bad representation, no drivers though, just the cars, but 32 on track at Indy and replays which look uncanny like the real thing are enjoyable. It's worth remembering that IndyCar runs on a shoestring budget, it's always desperate for sponsors, it spent a few recent years under the fog of a possible bankruptcy and while the 500 is a massive event, it basically pays for the rest of the series. I'm not sure what their license is really going to be worth to a dev versus how much budget would be needed to really have it compete with the other racing games on the market. I'd love it, but sadly I don't see it happening soon.
