F1 2015 - First Impressions VS expectations

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

First off, I pre-ordered the game with great excitement and anticipation, looking forward to being able to use all these great new features, and claimed massively improved car handling and performance simulation etc. First impression was, wow, this is great. I have most of the previous titles, and this is by far in my opinion the best racing experience as far as the car goes. This goes along with the graphics and the broadcasting presentation etc. However i am left feeling a little, disappointed and lost in terms of what I was expecting.

First of is the way in which championship season is set up. The way you dont have the option to have all three practice and qualifying in your season unless you have pro-season mode I find a big missing feature. Example for this maybe because I need more than half an hour to perfect my set up, and i may want to have the excitement and challenge of getting out of the different qualifying stages, and managing which tires I use, all of which would have been nice to be able to do, away from pro season mode. Secondly and in some way thing I am most disappointed at, is there is no CO-OP season mode. Me and my friend have been buzzing about doing this again for ages, only for us to be left disappointed that we couldn't do this. I understand the other modes online where we could do this perhaps, but it is not the same. In my opinion and first impression these changes to both the core features and online features have been engineered to allow for a more diverse audience to be  introduced, but as a result have neglected to some extent to more hardcore racers and fans of the franchise, loves and needs.

Maybe this is a bug, but I really struggle to hear my race enginer over the car and background noise when driving...even with headset on its quite. But something I could see easily fixed.

I could go on, about other little features which have undoubtedly been mentioned by people in comments on other posts about, safety-cars formations laps etc, with all their own opinions. But they are features I feel, as a fan of the sport and the games, which are missing, but I can manage due to the other great features (Which all are no longer there).

Overall, I would like to commend Codemasters for the fantastic improvement to the game engine and racing experience. However some game features which I think were popular have been surprisingly left on the shelf, leaving myself and some other fans (and racing leagues)  a little disappointed. I hope they can bring our some free DLC to which a co-op season mode can be added, and maybe an update where the set-up of a season can be more customised in order to fill the desires of all fans.
Dont be necessarily put off straight away, if you love F1 racing you will enjoy the racing itself, but like I said, some of the core 'F1 feels' ain't there.

I am curious to hear other peoples thoughts of the 'issues' raised in my post and if Codemasters themselves have any answers?

Cheers

This is the first thing that I have read that has made me think should I try it but the missing features just puts me off and not being able to have all the practice sessions without pro mode also puts me off..
But thank you for the good review.
