SNKRT 0 Posted August 3 Excuse me if this question has already been answered. F1 2020 is the first F1 game I've bought since F1 2017. I play on PC using a Pad. Starting this year, I've decided to try to turn traction control down to medium for the first time in a F1 game. I've noticed a huge difference between the amount of traction in My Team and Multiplayer. My car in my team (S2 Round 16, fastest car on the grid) has significantly less traction than a Williams in multiplayer using realisistic car performance. Corners like Bahrain Turn 12 seem impossible to make without spinning on My Team, while the Williams seems to be on rails by comparison. I hope someone has a fix for this issue, since my flashback button is starting to wear out, which is negatively affection my experience.
marioho 686 Posted August 3 The multiplayer car, semi-officially called the FOM car, is basically a Mercedes, regardless of the livery you slap upon it. Any major difference in handling and performance should be attributed to that. The design of the car was specially made for the game with participation and the approval from FOM. Performance wise it is based on the Mercedes. David Greco goes into some detail on the pinned thread in this forum.
SNKRT 0 Posted August 3 I played with a buddy using realistic performance since I am quicker than he is. I used the Williams car, which based on career mode should be the worst car on the grid. That Williams still has way more traction than my car in career mode.

Have you maxed out everything already? For example, if you've developed your engine and powertrain to be the strongest on the grid, but lag behind with chassis or rear downforce, the car will be very tricky to drive. I can also imagine that your My Team car and the Williams with realistic performance require somewhat different setups.
Krisperfectline 63 Posted August 4 (edited) I also feel that the Williams is easier to control on traction on gears 1-4 in comparison to the Mercedes. It appears that the Mercedes is more prone to loss of traction than the Wiliams. I also play on a pad with no assists. As the post above, you need to develop rear downforce upgrades or weight redistribution upgrades. More engine power means more torque on the car, and that means that the car could be more prone to traction loss. You need to have some rear downforce and weight redistribution upgrades. marioho 686 Posted August 4 @Krisperfectline given how minute Codemasters can be on details here it would not surprise me if somehow they modeled the different engine mappings the teams tend to favor. Isn't Haas for instance notorious for having a quirky mapping? Regarding engine mappings in general: Long long ago there was this post on Reddit where a guy compiled a truckload of onboard videos to plot an educated guess at the teams' gear ratios of choice for 2018: Meaning, yeah. Different cars different performances. Who could have guessed?!
