The AI cars that start outside the top 10 never start on the mediums or hards. I find this very annoying as most cars outside the top 10 would 100% start on mediums or hards so they could one stop. The AI strategy’s are very strange in this game as some AI pit 3/4 times in a race. Please sort this codemasters it’s a game breaker.

I've seen the very same thing; I actually filed a bug report a few days ago, because I really don't understand some of the strategic decisions made by the AI drivers.

When starting in the mid-field or towards the back, picking harder tyres makes perfect sense, simply because doing a different strategy may give you an edge. In this game, you hardly ever see AI drivers start on Mediums or even Hard tyres (might have happened once in about 100 races I've done so far). Conversely, they often pick tyres for the second/third stint that make no sense. In a 25% race, picking the Hards is stupidity in action; you lose about one second per lap. One stint Softs, one stint Mediums, that how you nail it! Anything else is folly.

I tend to think that the game sometimes goes against the grain just to make races a bit more interesting, because everything else makes no sense. If Mercedes dominates most races, like they usually do, letting Bottas pick the Hards for his second stint might spice things up. But while that might be the best thing from a player's point of view, as far as interesting races is concerned, it is in no way similar to what happens in reality. And since this is a simulation which goes out of its way to deliver races in a manner as close to real life as possible, I would consider this a bug, just like you do.

With that being said, you, @peanutt2000, should really fill out the bug report template which shows up as one of the first posts on this site. If you don't, this will be ignored by the people working at Codemasters, and it will eventually be deleted. I'm not saying this to annoy you, I just wanna help you, because I'm with you, as far as this bug is concerned.

Cheers mate I’ll do that. This needs sorting, I play on 100% races and the amount of 3/4 stop races is ridiculous.

What’s the best way to write this?

I wrote a bug report named "Race Strategy - Tyre Selection" - you can find it down at page 9 or so. Feel free to copy its content, add your own thoughts and ideas, and post it. Should give you everything you need. And if you need help, I'm more than willing to help you write it. Just give me a shout!
