Maybe a little bit while you're gaming, but really the PSU fan is louder under load and at idle it's completely silent compared to case fans :)

Nah I'd never let mine go above that either dude, even at 80c I still worry a little bit even though I know it can handle it, it seems like such a massive temp!
You must have a very loud PSU then :o You shouldn't be able to hear the fan in a PSU really. The only one I had that was loud was a Corsair one, which is why I won't touch one ever again. I know you love everything Corsair, but they really aren't as good as you think ;). They do make good products but their PSU's are awful.
Haha yea, it's stupidly loud! But the trouble is it's one of the very first HX series one's so it's a bit outdated :p Gonna be replacing it with Xmas money for a HX850i so I can link it to the H100i so after that it won't be a problem. Apparently that one only spins the fan once it goes above 400w usage so it should be a bit quieter ;)
Not gonna deny that they aren't great, but the trouble now is I've got a bunch of blue braided PSU cables from Corsair and they only fit in their PSU's, if other manufacturers used the same pins it'd be ok, but for me it'd be a waste to have to remove all these cables and go for a different one. Plus the Corsair PSU's look good ;)
Bad choice bud, that's the one I had that had a stupidly loud fan.... Yes it only comes on at 400w or at a certain temp, but when it does it's loud. :# I had a duff one but it's quite a common problem, looks like this guy had the same problem, although on top of that mine made a clicking noise which Corsair tried to say was normal but Overclockers said it wasn't lol  http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?t=110646 I hope yours works as intended though. I suppose you have to stick with them though because of the cables.

Got a question about the Nvidia 770/780/titan etc cooler. Ive searched the internet for an answer, but cant find one, and its annoying me.

What are the three threaded holes for on the end of all these coolers? I keep seeing them in pictures, but have no idea what they're for!
Heres couple pics so you know what im talking about:

@garyjpaterson‌ I believe they are to stop them sagging if you run Sli so that they are spaced out properly, not sure what you buy to screw into them though... Just searched and a thread came up posted by you in another forum and somebody said the same as me.

Cheers. Yeah i really want to find out what actually goes there, i assume it must e something to do with sagging. Just seems odd that theres 3 holes, surely one or two would work, must be something very specific that goes there.

@RevolvingPrawn‌ Still can't make my mind up about buying FC4. In FC3 I'm getting some messed up bugs. The enemy keep going weird, the best way to explain it is like a strobe light :# I didn't get this problem when I first got it when using my 670. I also get textures slow to load, and when I use the glider objects pop in like crazy, and I don't remember that happening when I first got the game. As 4 is basically 3.5 these problems could happen in the new game. I might re instal the game as I have the disc version, so it shouldn't take too long.

I also don't like the fact Ubisoft are charging the same as the next gen consoles when they put little work into the PC version, it's not like they have to pay M$ or $ony so really they should be cheaper. Plus you can't sell a used PC game like you can on consoles.

I sometimes get the same thing with the grass, but never to the extent you're getting it bud :s Otherwise with 3 I don't have any of the problems you're having, not even with the 770, so there's gotta be something in the files messed up maybe? Re-install sounds like a good option. And yea 4 is pretty much 3.5, but the new setting, new enemy, and new mechanics for shooting from vehicles and switching to an enemy vehicle while still driving convinced me I want it regardless of performance :p Plus Elephants lol.

It is an absolute pi$$ take though how they're trying to charge the same amount across the board. All I can say is well done Ubisoft for encouraging people who would have been customers to pirate.

Yea it does look like an awesome game, and I'll probably change my mind and buy it tomorrow lol How come you went for the disc version? Did you get it cheaper than digital or something? Zavvi actually have it for £29.99 which is much cheaper than anywhere else, but not sure how long it would take to be delivered...

It wasn't really by choice lol. I wanted to preorder through Steam but because Ubisoft are intent on taking the title of worst company away from EA that wasn't possible. So I looked for the cheapest option I could find at the time and it was the disc version from Amazon.

First time since I was a kid that I've had a PC game on disc :p How do they work now? Is it like once I've put it on it activates on pooplay and I can download it on both my laptop and PC? Or will it only work on 1 computer and no others after that? I really don't know lol.

I think it works the same as a Steam game I bought Watchdogs on disc type the key in and off you go. The key you type in is then registered to your U play  account or as you call it pooplay. I don't know about whether it works on both laptop as I don't game on mine as mine isn't really powerful enough for that. But I never bought my laptop with gaming in mind tbh as I have my consoles and PC for that.

Lol what's these discs you talk about, in my day we had  cassette tapes :p

Amazon costs a lot more than Zavvi but as I've never pre ordered a game from them it could take a while. Amazon costs about the same as the digital version on Ubi store, you also get a free copy of Far Cry 2 but I already have that for PC.

Ok I found a thread with people who have the same animation glitch http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/731942-Far-Cry-3-NPC-Shaking-!-Forums

I'm just reading through it to see if anyone fixed it.

Edit: People are saying it's linked to vsync, but I've always played it with it on so I'm not sure why it's started now...

Ok it does seem vsync is the cause of my problems with FC3.

Sorry for triple posting, didn't notice nobody had posted.

@RevolvingPrawn If this comes to the next GPU's the 980 won't look so good. Should mean they have atleast 8GB of vram, I hope so as 4GB isn't enough imo. http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/sk-hynix-8ghz-3d-stackable-gddr5-memory.html

Well they won't look so good for 4K gaming, but for 1080p the 980 will still be a fantastic card ;)

Wouldn't be so sure, my 780 was fantastic when I bought it, now it's not already  :# Posted about FC4 in the game thread. I can just about get 60fps but only at 1080p without using soft shadows and only using smaa. Think it's to do with the Nvidia effects, as Ubisoft never optimize them very well.
When a new card comes out devs mainly work on performance of that, so the older gen suddenly becomes bad.

Edit: New driver out which is meant to improve Far Cry 4 performance.

I haven't got FC4 yet but I may get it at a later stage but I'm mostly holding off as I have plenty to do for now anyway games wise. Not played any of the Far cry games before but I'm tempted by this one as it does look pretty awesome.

Wow I love the PC community. Someone posted a fix for stuttering and it also lowers the Vram usage from 3GB to 2GB. After doing the fix you must set it to read only. :) Originally Posted by dhabulin View Post
Well, after some experimenting i found one way to get rid of this stuttering. First change graphics quality in game to "custom", then go to C:\Users\Master\Documents\My Games\Far Cry 4 and edit GamerProfile.xml file, change DisableLoadingMip0="0" to DisableLoadingMip0="1" . Stutter almost completely gone. I noticed that game now uses around 1700MB VRAM, and before that was around 2600MB. Not sure what is that setting for. Quick test shows no visual difference in game. Further testing required. Please report back your findings.

@RevolvingPrawn‌ So I re applied the thermal paste on my CPU, and it seems I put too much on that as well when I changed from water cooling. I can now overclock it to 4.5ghz with a max temp of 60c, which is only 5c more from when I had water cooling. The fans aren't even at max so there's more headroom if I want it, as I know I can get it go 4.7ghz if needed. I think I may have put too much on when I had wc, my hands are spaz so it's hard to control how much I put on. Really happy with the temps now though.
I love it when a plan comes together o:) A rather simple one at that. Before in FC 4 cpu temps went upto 65c and that was only at 4.2ghz, so a pretty big improvement B)

Good prebuilt I5 PC here with 3 yr warranty and Win8.1 for anyone who wants to dip their toe in the PC side of things but doesn't want the hassle of building or maintaining it themselves.

Some good parts in there and if you add them up individually you would be hard pushed to build it cheaper.

https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/reviews/

It's the Minerva system at £999 at the top of the page.
