Removal of the slow-motion effect when crashing then car

Recommended Posts

When I purchased F1 2020 for Xbox One, I was expecting a big amount of changes disregarding the addition of My Team mode, new engine sounds, and the new game mode "Casual". Since I bought F1 2019 last year, I was unimpressed about the fact that the slow-motion effect when crashing the car is still in the game since F1 2020 as well, I don't feel safe playing the F1 games at this rate. I believe this is something that is brutally, a BIG must. That was one of my wishlists of the game before release but never shared it to people.

I have no idea what 'slow motion effect' you are referring to?

Simple: When you crash the car, losing a tyre, for instance, the game colors will be like black and white and the time will slow down. Understand?

This has never happened to me when I've crashed. It's like you're talking about a different game but you've specifically said F1 2020.

Here's a video with lots of crashes but no slow motion or monochrome:

This is without slow motion because it was recorded in the game's replay system.

It look exactly the same to me during live gameplay.

That video is of F1 2019 though.

I've just deliberately crashed to check what happens. In GP mode there is absolutely no slow motion although once you are actually out of the race the colours do fade a bit but not to monochrome. I'll admit I'd forgotten the colour fading as I've managed not to completely destroy my car for a while. I'm struggling with why this slight colour fading could cause you any real distress though? And again, no slow motion.

It causes me distress because it's NOT realistic! By the way, are you serious or what?! It happens in F1 2020 too!

Totally serious. I've not noticed slow motion in any game mode I've played.

Take a look at this picture and spill everything you know!

I'm talking about this effect when you crash the car. Sorry, if it's not happening to you then it's because you must be playing online instead, where only the monochrome effect does its work.

How can a picture prove slow motion? :classic_biggrin:

Overwhelmingly I play TT and GP modes currently. I did play online on one day but that was it. I've not tried career modes though.

When I deliberately crashed earlier I noticed no slow motion effect but finding a crash in your 2019 video it may not have been too obvious without other cars nearby.

To be clear I've been replying as I was genuinely baffled by what you were asking about. I'm still really struggling with how this is such a big deal for you but I respect that it obviously bothers you.

Edit: cross-posted with above.

Why are you complaining about something like this. Don’t act like a baby

I am just expressing how loathsome is the fact they still insist on not removing this slow-motion effect when crashing. Understand?

Why would they remove something that isn’t a problem

Perceive it as a reminder of you for being messed up the whole thing. You should feel sorry not only for crashing your car, but also for being retired from the race. :classic_biggrin:

I think everyone had misunderstood him, what he's saying is that he don't like having the "Kill Cam" effect during the moment your car needs to be retire from crashing (Terminal Damage), which is indeed display as a slow motion effect. I actually agree with him, it's a bit overly dramatic and I do wanna see/feel my car crashing in real time, as well as how the crash will play out (causing pile up later or something). I think this is a feature that Codemaster uses in almost all of their recent games?

May be there should be option to turn it off.

I understand perfectly what he means and I 100% agree, its bothered me for years on codemasters f1 games. Wouldn't be so bad if it happened after the crash but often your mid crash when it happens, really spoils the immersion. I guess some just enjoy watching their crashes more than others. It has been asked numerous times to be removed over the years but this is the first post I've seen about f1 2020.

To be clear I do understand now too . It doesn't bother me though, and it can of course be avoided by not crashing...

If I do crash I'm too busy being annoyed with myself to particularly care exactly what is being shown on the screen!

If you don’t want it to happen get better and stop crashing

I'd only just resisted saying the same thing :classic_biggrin:.
