TaxiCommander 1 Posted August 26 (edited) I did the AI test that was posted on YouTube and ended up with 102 which is pretty fair for the Grand Prix mode. When I started my 3rd season with Red Bull (2nd rated car behind Ferrari) I got absolutely destroyed in Spain - both qualifying and race with Ricciardo winning while I barely got 9th place in the same car. The next race in Monaco I lowered the AI to 95 and the qualifying was perfect - top 6 all within 1 second. The race however was laughably easy and I won with 8 seconds advantage. My questions are why is the practice and qualifying AI so much better than the race AI and do the car upgrades have an effect on the difficulty? SASColfer 56 Posted August 26 Yeah I think quite a lot people notice this. The quali sim practice, the actual qualifying and race don't match up very well.
rustyrocket56 0 Posted August 27 AI skill varies from circuit to circuit(so does yours). I would suggest to do the grand prix quali test for pretty much every track your going to race at. Once at the start of the weekend and once just before qualifying to decide what difficulty seems right for that particular track.
Voznik 37 Posted October 7 I have the same problem! I started my career with Ferrari at 95, then increased to 98 next season, and all was good, quali & race I was were I was supposed to be. Into the 3rd season I increased the difficulty to 101 and now I can't make it into Q2. Even going back to level 98 doesn't do it. Still massively behind much worse cars. Everybody is just crazy fast now. It's not a matter of Level Difficulty, because if I play Grand Prix mode, I can play at 101 (or even above that), and have fun and have the same lap times as my teammate. Why in career everybody is so OP? I will need to lower the level massively, or restart the career completely. I like improvements and changes throughout the career experience but this is a bit disappointing. 😭
SixtoRodriguez 10 Posted October 8 I found the race AI is much faster than the quali AI. Or maybe I'm just good for one lap and suck in the race.
Aef251 92 Posted October 8 I find the qualy AI faster than the race AI at most tracks, especially early in My Team. My theory is that if you qualify lower and then have to pass to win you feel better about your play and it brings you back for more. Driving from the front without passing would make the game less exciting and you less willing to keep playing. So my theory is that it is intentional. Sounds reasonable but maybe you can just handle the heavier car better. As I said, I'm pretty fast in the qualifying but I'm struggling with a heavy car early in the race. My races usually look like this: I qualify on P7. I loose 2-3 positions in the first lap and have to fight hard to maintain P10 for a couple of rounds. The more fuel I burn and the more weight I lose, I get faster and faster and win back some positions in the second half of the race.

Or tyre warmup, how long is your race and do you do formation lap?

I do warmup lap. My impression is the AI lap times (especially in online leagues) are scripted, because their lap times are very stable of the race. They are maybe 1-1.5 sec faster at the end of the race compared to the beginning, while it's 3-4 sec for me.
