MisterJesus 15 Posted August 28 As the track is already in the game, what is the technical feasibility of enabling the outer circuit as potentially a paid DLC?
hanktwich 4 Posted August 28 (edited) I don't think I stand alone in saying that I would totally shell out an extra $10-20 for DLC with the Bahrain Outer Circuit and a few of the other added circuits to this year's F1 calendar. If these circuits cannot be added to this year's game, I think a lot of people would love to see the added circuits make an appearance in F1 2021... kart12talwar 9 Posted August 29 As per Codemasters, the new circuits will make an appearance in future games only if they are a part of the official F1 calendar for that particular year. Otherwise the tracks won’t be added to the game due to licensing issues

You mean the 6,299km/3,914mi long circuit that was used in 2010 and originally supposed to switch every year between the normal and the long version of the circuit (this idea was dropped since there was no added value for the spectators compared to the normal version)? I was also wondering if it is legally and technically possible to implement this version (this would add the "Bahrain long"-circuit to the "Bahrain short"-circuit). This could have been a missed opportunity for the keep-fighting-DLC since Michael Schumacher returned to F1 on this track. No, he meant the "oval" configuration of the Bahrain circuit that's never been used for an F1 race, it's ultrafast, times will be under a minute on qualifying and around 1 minute during the race. This will be used during the second GP: https://us.motorsport.com/f1/news/f1-to-use-outer-bahrain-oval-layout-for-second-grand-prix/ The one you are referring to is I believe called the "endurance" configuration. I could only quote the german motorsport magazines, but they are saying that the idea of racing at the Bahrain oval course was dropped. Instead there should be either two races at the normal layout or one race at the normal and one at the endurance layout. Edit: I should have looked that up first instead of writing what i had in my memory, the outer layout is indeed planned to be used for the second race. But after CM had announced that there will be now new tracks of the "new" season, i think that they should not do any exeption, even if the track is already in the game. Otherwise we will discuss this topic again and again and again... (and hopefully this thread does not develop in that direction) Edited August 29 by Davidj7077

However, there will always be a topics here and there in the forums typed with all capital letters demanding some new track or an advertisement sticker to be removed that's barely visible. 🙂

Given that they incorporated in-game purchases with the Podium Pass, I don't think they would be opposed to making these circuits a paid DLC to offset the licensing fees. I'm assuming there aren't any licensing issues with Bahrain Short (Paddock Circuit), Suzuka Short, Silverstone Short (International Circuit), or Circuit of The Americas Short (National Circuit), as these tracks are not on the official F1 calendar but are in the game... That’s a good point. Then CM should not even make it as a paid DLC. They already have license for Bahrain circuit, they just need to add the oval layout in the game. kart12talwar 9 Posted August 30 @BarryBL, based on above posts is the new bahrain oval track possible in F1 2020 game ?

No because it wasn't part of the agreed upon, pre-Covid schedule.

I totally understand the position CodeMasters takes on this as I know it is a lot of work to produce 22 tracks (including 2 new ones) for a game. In my opinion, they've done a great job with the tracks this year. I just think that a lot of people would really appreciate the update as it would allow us to feel more connected to the F1 season. This crazy season has seen Formula 1 add/bring back 6 circuits to the calendar that were not initially planned which means that 40% (6/15) of the tracks used this year won't be in the F1 2020 game. If CM aren't able to add any of these tracks to the game this year, I think a lot of us would love to see these tracks brought in for F1 2021, maybe as a replacement for some of the short circuits. @BarryBL

Oh. Is there a limit on the number of tracks they can include in the game?
TurkeySloth2107 77 Posted September 1 Generally speaking, they seem to only include the ones licensed for a particular season. Thus, I can easily see them subbing Bahrain's outer circuit, which is being raced on this year, for the short circuit, which has never been raced on, in future installments with a simple change to Bahrain's license. However, the other five unscheduled tracks would require completely new licenses, which may be hare to come by.
Turtlemoose 75 Posted September 1 If Codies were/are financial geniuses - when it comes to releasing F1 2021, they'll release the standard game as well as a special edition which includes all the additional circuits used in 2020 for an additional cost. I know I'd happily pay for the extra.
