nitraMnotsA 1 Posted September 2 Hi Guys, The official rules in the real F1 world about tyre management is the below: 'For drivers who qualify for the race in dry tires, they must start the race with the tires used in the second session of qualifying. This applies for the Top 10 drivers from the qualifying sessions. For drivers that qualify outside the Top 10, he can start the race on tires available to them – soft, medium or hard' Is this rule applied to the game as well? Is there maybe a way to start the race at fresh tyres after the qualification, because iseem to always have to start on the tyres i used in the qualification? Thanks! Ultra3142 384 Posted September 2 I thought the game followed the real F1 rules. Are you saying you've started a race outside the top 10 and not been able to choose tyres?
marioho 686 Posted September 2 The game follows the FIA rules. I never bothered to check how it adapts it to One-Shot Qualifying and Short Qualifying modes, but the full quali will be all by the book. Haha I admit it is a bit pedantic but the rules are not exactly what you said as that phrasing implies that even if the race is wet, the top 10 cars should still start with the dry set in which they got their fastest lap time in Q2. The rule is as follows (24.4 of the sporting regs): Quote With the exception of any cars that are required to start the race from the pitlane, at the start of the race each car which qualified for Q3 must be fitted with the tyres with which the driver set his fastest time during Q2. This will only be necessary for these cars if dryweather tyres were used to set the fastest time in Q2 and if dry-weather tyres are used at the start of the race. Any such tyres damaged during Q2 will be inspected by the FIA technical delegate who will decide, at his absolute discretion, whether any may be replaced and, if so, which tyres they should be replaced with. A penalty under Article 38.3(d) will be imposed on any driver whose car is not fitted with the tyres with which he set his fastest time in Q2 (except if damaged tyres have been replaced with the approval of the FIA technical delegate). Basically, the tyre sets are locked for the top 10 only if both quali and race are held under dry weather conditions. You could disable Parc Ferme rules in the settings if you don't want those rules hindering your fun, though. I think it should do the trick.
Aef251 92 Posted September 3 For short qualifying you start on the set you used to post your best time if you are top 10. The rest may choose the tyres they wish to start on.
halfblindgamer 15 Posted September 3 Definitely works as in real F1. I often choose to run medium for Q2 if I'm quick enough, and it will apply those mediums to me at start of race. I know it is because it is the only set of mediums I usually have for qualifying.
