More info on steering wheel display

Recommended Posts

Please add more info to the steering wheel display, such as:

-Fuel Mix. | Low (1), Medium (2), High (3). (at the moment only the amount of fuel left in the tank, is being displayed)

-Differential. | 50% to 100%

-Brake Bias. | 50% to 70%

-Delta Driver Ahead / Behind | During race day, this would be very helpful. (at the moment only the delta to our own personal best lap time, is being displayed)

-Tyre Inner / Outer Temperatures. (at the moment only the inner tyre temps, are being displayed)

-Brake Temperatures.

-Throttle / Brake Input.

-RPM.

All this vital info is currently missing on the steering wheel display. If we had all this info on the steering wheel display, we could turn off the very distracting MFD once and for all. It would improve Cockpit Racing drastically.

Hopefully Codemasters will eventually give us a more realistic Cockpit Racing experience.

Here is a link to a older thread about the same topic, which seems to be forgotten:

Here is the newest version of the Steering Wheel Dashboard i use on a "third party app" (SimDashboard), as a example of what could be done to the ingame steering wheel display:

Throttle application:Screenshot_20200910-215509_SIM Dashboard.jpg

Ers Mode:Screenshot_20200910-215513_SIM Dashboard.jpg

Fuel Mix Mode:Screenshot_20200910-215535_SIM Dashboard.jpg

Brake Bias:Screenshot_20200910-215551_SIM Dashboard.jpg

Differential:Screenshot_20200910-215559_SIM Dashboard.jpg

Flag:Screenshot_20200910-215614_SIM Dashboard.jpg

Brake application:Screenshot_20200910-215626_SIM Dashboard.jpg

Of course, my version is very congested, but if this was applied in Codemasters ingame steering wheel dashboard display, with perhaps the ability to flip through around 3 pages and a different more readable design layout, it would be fantastic. For example:

-page 1 only has ers, fuel mix, fuel left in the tank, diff, bbal, delta, laptime, speed, gear, rpm, session time left, lap counter, current position, brake and throttle bars on it.

-page 2 only has tyre inner and outer temperatures, engine temperature brake temperatures, car damage, tyre wear, track temperature on it.

-page 3 only has delta to front car and car behind, detailed laptime breakdown (personal best with all sectors, current with all sectors, session best with all sectors) on it.

A pop up should also appear across the display, every time we change fuel mix, ers mix, diff or bbal, regardless of what page we are on.

There are lots of possibilities to give us more info on the ingame steering wheel.

I'd settle for the DRS indicators to work in [Grand Prix] mode.

Also, the LEDs on wheels should be able to indicate flags now (actual wheel support should follow).

Green flags, Yellow flags, Red flags, Blue Flags.

The native support is just revs and speed where there is a speedometer.

But yeah, DRS and PIT as well as flags should be on the screen wheel also and working across game modes.

Or the option to have the T-Cam MFD screen information on the wheel screen area. Not immersive, but useful for cockpit.

And talking about wheel display, it is so silly the fact that every car has the same display designs. Each of them MUST be the same as the real life and period. It's also better not bother talking about licensing, because if it was like that, realism would be null every time. Even though this might be possible, I recreated a lot of F1 dashboards in SIM Dashboard, and most of them are identical to real life, with no difference whatsoever. The 2017 Force India is an example.

A Multipage MFD for the steering wheel display, that we could interactively scroll through via the press of a single button (as it is possible in Project Cars), would be perfect for people that love to drive in Cockpit Cam.

Now that F1 2021 gameplay has been dropped, and some people actually played in Cockpit Mode, it is quite disappointing to see that we still will not get enough info on the steering wheel.

Traditions.

Ye its big dissapointment they have onboards of every car so they can replicate it for every team. Again boring dash for cockpit users. Shame

You know what, I'm already used to this. If that's the case, then it would be great watching these dashes with a more conventional letter font, such as Arial, because steering wheel displays with the F1 letter fonts are thwarting.
