The game won't launch (steam version)

Hi, everyone! I haven't played the game for a couple of weeks and when attempted to play yesterday it simply won't start. No errors or other pop up screens, I click Play and just nothing happens. Everything was absolutely fine the last time I played it and no major changes were made to the system or the game. Did the verification of the files, it acclaimed 1 file but the game won't start anyway. I'll be grateful for any help. Thanks in advance.
