AI take you out from behind

Recommended Posts

So I tried a full length GP experience, easily qualified to pole, the fastest by a mile, but second corner in, someone runs into the back of me and spins me out, and then Hamiton tries to overtake me a few more laps in and again, spins me out.

Is it something I'm doing wrong? So frustrating that the AI are too dump to avoid collisions when overtaking.

well yeah they are more aggressive and challenging witch is good makes races more exciting.

leave them space and look in your mirror often.

Don't you dare turn the AI back to really cautious mode codemasters. They need speeding up on some corners where they seem to back off the throttle or brake too much.

They're not 'aggressive' though, they're just stupid. Running into the back of you on turn two and spinning us both out is not intelligent at all.

they arent stupid, if you drive like they do in F1 you wont go off.
Squeeze them to much they WILL hit you, they wont go off track. Drive clean, and you'll be fine.

They only drive in the back of you if you drive like almost all gamers do. If a car pulls up behind you, you have to be aware of him and take a line towards the next corner. Take the left or the right side of the track. And the car behind will react to that.

If of course, like all the online racers, you cut across the track from left to right, they'll drive in the back of your car...

So I tried the race again and dived into the first few corners so they couldn't get near me and was mostly fine except nearly had a couple of incidents lapping people. Literally one of them side swiped me and the most of them caused the yellows to come out coz they swiped the walls trying to get out of the way from me.

When I got hit the first time, I wasn't not cutting across or anything. Literally just braked before I drove into the corner and before I even turned in, he hit me. AI should be smart enough to avoid that.

I totally agree that the AI does need some tweaking, I have been taken out going down a long straight without weaving and the AI 1st started nudging me and then basically drove through me like I was not there.

Have had this happen a few times too, but on watching the replays, at least a couple of times it's been down to the AI locking up and just not being able to avoid me. Which is actually a whole lot more acceptable as that's something that just sometimes happens in real life.. though of course it's always a bit frustrating to be taken out though no fault of your own.

Yes, AI is much to aggressive when trying to overtake. But after a few races you know what they will do and you can adapt your racing style.

They aren't too aggressive at all, and they're not stupid. They make errors as a player would, and as wildcat says, try replays (new and improved especially for looking at incidents like this!) and you'll notice it's either the AI making a mistake (which is a good thing that they occasionally do) or it's the player weaving around or defending a line too late. Which lets face it, is incredibly common and the reason we had AI that backed of in previous games.
Play it as if it were real. You'll notice a big difference.

Play Formula A on PCars, then you'll know what stupid overaggressive AI is like.

The AI is the perfect aspect of this buggy game so far, I personally love it. It's challenging, and will make the move even if it's risky, I like it. I got taken out by Button (Driving as Alonso) in malasia in full wet conditions, going into the fist corner was like "Surely he won't go for it like the previous AI" but he wen't for it, we both spun but as I was crawling back to catch the passing drivers, I was smiling .. I don't want to play an easy game .. it's the challenge that counts.

The only advice I can give you is watch your mirrors, Defend the inside of corners to try and stop them passing, but don't try and squeeze them as they'll just make contact. Even if they've only just got their nose just up the inside, they won't back out like they do in previous F1 games.

I completely agree the AI makes the game much more interesting.... although, without bigging myself up I drove a blinder in Spain qualifying 4th in the Sauber and leading the race by lap three.  I gained a lead of 4 seconds which increased to 6 seconds by the second to last lap.  I had just begun the final lap and infront was Merhi who very kindly pulled off the racing line for me but as I was side by side he decided he wanted to come back on the racing line spinning us both out on to the gravel.  I have to say I didn't drive away with a smile on my face! But more with shaky hands.  First race i've won on F1 2015 but only won by 0.65 seconds.  Not the 6 seconds it should of been.
