Hello everyone.

With the release of Version 1.16 of DiRT Rally 2.0 we have reached the final planned update for the game.

We're not ruling out future updates entirely (however they're unlikely), but understandably, the Rally team is placing a heavy focus on future projects.

As such, we will not have the traditional "bug reporting thread" for 1.16. The Support forum is still open should any major issues arise that affect all players (server outages etc.) but for the minor stuff, do not expect any further tweaks and fixes unless we say otherwise.

That being said, you all still want to chat about 1.16 and your experiences with it so here's a thread and Patch Notes 🙂

Version 1.16

September 28, 2020

Content:

  • New car: Ford Fiesta R5 MKII

    Note:
Car is available to all players in modes outside of My Team.
To unlock the car for use in My Team, take part in a DiRT Rally 2.0 World Series Qualifier and you'll get it when the Event Week ends.

Cars:

  • Volkswagen Polo GTI R5 - Updated engine audio based on new recordings of real-world car.
  • Volkswagen Polo GTI R5 - Updated rear-view mirrors to show reflected images.
  • Ford Escort MK2 - Updated rear-view mirrors to show reflected images.
  • Porsche 911 RGT Rally Spec - Updated rear-view mirrors to show reflected images.

FIA World Rallycross Championship:

  • Removed AI driver names which were mistakenly appearing when using 2019-spec cars.

Colin McRae Scenarios:

  • Resolved issue where Used tyres were displaying as New in Service Areas.

Miscellaneous:

  • Added ability to select Paraguay as a driver nationality.
  • Made various minor (not notable) bugfixes across the game.

This is currently the final update planned for DiRT Rally 2.0.

The Ford Fiesta R5 MKII will be unlocked for all players to purchase in My Team Garage menu in early 2021, however this does not require a game update.

Thanks for the latest ever DR2.0 update guys!
Can't wait to hear about DR3.0 as well... 😉

Thanks for the national flag feature on the new Fiesta MK II R5 on top of the car. 😮

Nice....but where is the Fiesta R5 MKII? I did take part in the World Series Qualifier's, not all of it, but i thought that wasn't necessary.

It should be where your Rewards are for the usual things like Daily Challenges and such.

[Update: We're investigating]

Also, for those that want to hear the anti-lag:

Sound of Polo R5 after update is just a masterpiece! 🤩🤯 I don’t want to drive any other R5 car. This is just perfect! Exactly as it sounds in real life. Love it!

Looking forward to hearing this as well. The Polo has a very distinctive off-throttle noise in real life, be good to see if the CM audio squad have captured it.

So Fiesta didn't unlock for anyone in My Team it seems. Same here. Was thinking of doing the two R5 weeklies with Fiesta but nope.

Also UI info is still wrong on lots of cars despite that the patch overwrote ALL cars. Would have been a pretty good opportunity to fix that since they were all re-downloaded but nope. Still UI says that M1 is front engined, 911 is mid-engined, Impreza supercar is manual etc. Might seem inconsequential but you'd think professional developers who work on cars would be embarrassed not to get such things right.

"Hi my name is Dave, my job is to make cars for a rally sim, and I believe BMW M1 is front-engined!" Just, no.

hello  since the newest update when i complete stages in a club , i can see the times ingame but if i check it in the browser, there is no time for anybody even that 5 people completed all the stages. https://dirtrally2.dirtgame.com/clubs  so in this site the times are not existing but ingame the times are there.

Thanks, I'll pass it on.

That would be a website thing rather than a game thing, so hopefully a quick fix 🙂

Yes, they definitely did it! For me it is the best sounding car in this game. 99.9% like in real life. Top!

That's a bold statement! Sounds promising though, hopefully I won't have to wait half the night for the download! :classic_laugh:

Same here. I set up valid time in all qualifiers both for Rally and Rally Cross, but Ford Fiesta R5 MKII didn't appear in My Team.
I have it only in time trail and custom championship.

I can provide screenshots each week, if necessary.

It's a bug! PJTierney has already said this (and I'm affected too)... Please be patient and they will resolve the issue! 😉

Can you find Waldo from this screenshot?

(hint: you should be able to see the shift lights. They are behind the steering wheel which is precisely where they should not be. I managed to "fix" it by making the driver position as if the driver was a giraffe, not ideal but driveable once you get used to it)

Also the welding on the rollcage on the left side looks a little bit awful.

Car drives and sounds pretty nice though.

I have my driver seating position all the way back and down in every car in the game. If the steering wheel covers the shift lights that would be a real bummer. I don't want to drive like I'm a giraffe 🦒. Seriously disappointed if it is blocked in this position and if the steering wheel buttons flicker. I'm going to check it out when I get home and will update my post with my results. I was very excited for this car and am excited about the sound update for the VW Polo GTI R5. If this is the last update then there is little hope that this gets fixed...sigh. I'm trying not to jump to any conclusions until I try it for myself.

Update: Sad to say but the shift lights are blocked in the default cockpit seating position of this car which was all the way down and back without any adjustments. The steering wheel buttons do indeed flicker on this car (Xbox One X V1.16). I'm very glad to have the car, just disappointed at these couple of details. To some this is nitpicking but I guess I have been spoiled with all of the other car's driving position views.

Is it just me or is the anti-lag very quiet using cockpit view? I can barely make it out. I watched the third person view anti-lag video and it sounded good but all of that seems to be lost using onboard driving views.

Shouldn't the in-game car be better about off-throttle to on-throttle response since it has anti-lag? I have watched several videos of the real car and the throttle response was mega in these situations.

I am somewhat bewildered by concerns of this car being faster than the previous version. If it's not faster and improved in meaningful ways then what is the point and why should anyone be excited about a new car? Manufacturers don't usually set out to make an identical performing car to the previous version. I do understand not wanting to have a car that vastly outperforms the other ones in the class but I am fine with it as long as it is accurate. I wouldn't want a car's performance nerfed in a game just for the sake of car balance if it is indeed a faster car. These things wouldn't be as much of an issue if you could specify which specific cars can or cannot be used in multiplayer events.

A huge THANK YOU to Codemasters for making such a great game. This is my favorite modern racing game to date.

Well...I couldn't beat my PB on my usual testing stage in Time Trial in several tries, wich was made in the old Fiesta with a tune from GTR Technical.
I did run the car with the default setup though.
And the time is quite on my limit.

So it's not overwhelmingly more powerful, maybe a bit, but not like Delta to Escort like 😄

Hi,

Maybe it's just a feeling but the 1.15 was a big forward step if I see the graphics on xbox ox and now we've stepped back on an earlier level. Plus i've lost a lot of cars i've bought in the game after I installed this update.

I've wrong or what happend?

Thanks!

I had a bit of a play in Dirtfish, then took the Fiesta onto the stages.

Started in Spain on a short stage I use for comparing cars and I beat my fastest time, went to Wales for the same and beat my fastest time. Finally I went to Scotland and was about a second short.

Car feels fantastic to drive. As planted as the Polo, but more agile.

I don't like the way Version 1.16 Update have online-only career mode.  I think 1.17 should add an offline career modus.

It's been discussed many times, and is not the kind of thing you can simply "patch out", at least not in this game.

The game was designed with an always-online Career from the start and several parts of the game are built around that, and that's not going to change.

Also, this is the final update we have currently planned for.

I bought the game 2 days ago, I have finished a single event with the first car. The 2 next events had issues. can you give a reason why the connection issues cannot be fixed? (the 2 pictures 2 from 2 separate events.)

I didn't click "return to maim menu, I clicked "Continue" to start the next stage, you could at least update the error message as its wrongly thinking I clicked to go back to main menu.

Pretty sure the game doesn't has properly modelled ALS on any car. The audio is there, but the effect is not...

...another one for the DR3 wish list!

Is there a way to adjust it? (I'm on X-Box One S)
Not that I would do it, because I would have to change it everytime I switch cars...

The problem isn't so huge for me I think.
The engine makes a very distinctive noise when you are about to shift up.
Not ideal, but ok.

It looks to be accurately placed, but a second shift light in the middle of the dashboard, like the additionally added ones on some old cars with a cable going down the dashboard (was it on the 131 Abarth?) would have helped.

One could mean they learned from the reports by me and others regarding other cars like the 911 SC RS, were there were several things that flickered on release of the car and then got fixed later. There are several other cars, who have things like that.
It's a bit distracting and looks unfinished, but ok.
Would I be the designer of the car, I wouldn't be happy with the result, but that's just me.

We all want the best for the game, don't see what's wrong with that.
They could have been made sure the very last content update is without any problems, if it's the last update, too.
Both of these issues I saw IMMEDIATELY on the first run with the car, I don't get why they said "ok guys, were done, kick the update out".

See it like you. Accuracy is much more important to me than balancing the class.

To sum the things up:

+++ Polo GTI R5 new engine sound -> Wow! Just...wow!
++ Fiesta MkII R5 engine sound
++ Fiesta MkII R5 car design outside
++ Fiesta MkII R5 car design cockpit (except wheel)
+ some additional bug fixes (but unfortunately not the one I reported for AGES)

--- Leaderboards don't load were the Fiesta MkII is on! (only doesn't work on the clubs website, in-game seems fine)
--- didn't received the car in My Team (I know, it's beeing looked at)
-- Fiesta MkII R5's wheel buttons flickering all the time (is distracting and looks bad)
- shift lights are not visible most of the time on the Fiesta MkII R5

At the end, this was another completely free car and an additional awesome surprise, so not much to complain about.
And I'm german, we love to complain about just everything!

A few of the scenarios are still broken. Completely.

I run them on "Very Hard" difficulty, and despite being a regular top 100 driver on dailies, the 1998 Monte Carlo event and the 1989 New Zealand event are completely untouchable to win.

I'm 27 seconds off the Spanish rival in the 1998 Monte Carlo scenario and the Cosworth 1989 New Zealand event, I can easily gap the 1 minute required in the first stage but then obliterated in the second stage.

Any chance of getting this looked into? This is on the current release build.

Uff, 10 seconds off my pb in the first run with the new fiesta and it was not even a good run.

This car is a bit fast eh? Also behaves like it has an active center diff (the cornering is very easy).

four times Oberstein driven and only the 2nd race was with the Ford. The 1st with the Polo. In the third race I could not beat the Ford, very close, so I had to make a fourth try. I won, but it was very close and I don't know if I can beat the Polo in the 5th with the Ford.

default Vehicle Tune works good for tarmac, without driving aids. (I was surprised that the front wheels of the both cars did not lock. I always have the feeling that even in Wales and Grace that the front suspension is set too soft on the R5 cars. For USA, Poland, Finland and Scotland I need even harder springs.)
