Fuel management a mess

Recommended Posts

There is no over revving, all cars are restricted to 15.000 max rpm. In regards to rich/lean, its actually the opposite. Lean burning produces more heat than running a rich mix. Read my post in another thread for an explanation.

The fuel information on the screenshot show the fuel window and not the amount of fuel. It means you are currently 9 laps above the projected fuel usage for the whole length of the race. However, its completely useless in practice and qualifying and should be replaced with lap/kg.

The fuel window is important because teams are now restricted to 100kg of fuel for the whole race, which is not really much. If they want to finish the race, they need to make sure that the current fuel consumption stays within this calculated window as close as possible. Again, check over here for some more info.

It is also realistic that engines are now more prone to overheating than before. With the new power units, the cooling system now also has to pull heat from the turbochargers and the ERS system, but its dimensions havent changed at all. That means there will be much less potential cooling left for the engine unit itself compared to the years before.

However, bear in mind that this is information from the real world. It all depends on how realistic it has been implemented by Codemasters, but on a first glance it looks like they did their homework (minus the bugs)

Well i have noticed that the fuel mix settings are wrong, standard mix seems to be the fastest, which must be why you ran out of fuel, mix 3 seems to be slowest, top speed was way down on std mix speed, and lean seems to be the new std mix. Really crazy! Not sure if anyone else has found this.
We did this bug, and are working on a fix with it at the moment. That's great, other than the fuel problem my friend and i are really enjoying the game on ps4. Handling is great! :-)

The screenshot above shows that Grosjean has 9 KILOS of fuel left, not laps, I've found the practice session seems to be in kilos, same for Qualifying, its pretty simple - look at it in the screen, do some math and you won't run out, profit.
Nope, the engineer specifically said I had less than 5 kgs left. Also, if your comment made any sense, I wouldn't have started practice laps with +5 kilos of fuel and ended up with +9 kilos of fuel after 6 laps - as that is physically impossible.

As you said, do some math ;)

Woozie77's post makes much more sense to me in regards to my screenshot. I agree with him, the status screen should show how much fuel I have left for the practice session.
