F1 2015 so far (certificate18)

Recommended Posts

F1 2015 PC Port so far........Well it's shit! As usual Codemasters have totally f#*@d the PC version of the game up. The controller is totally bloody useless. It thinks button A is B, B does not exist, X is sometimes A and sometimes B. There is NO controller settings options at all.

When racing if you brake you immediately screw either left or right. When steering all will be fine for half of a corner then full lock will all of a sudden kick in. In some corners the steering works well, in others its either full lock or nothing and you cannot adjust the steering sensitivity, dead zones etc AT ALL.

The A.I this year are totally bonkers. First race in Torro Rosso I am first by a margin in practice, 4th in quali, then in the race the cars are 3 seconds per lap quicker than me. When they over take you they act like your not even there and just slam you out of the way.

After 3 laps of a 29 lap race my tyres are totally useless.

The plus points. It feels much quicker than any other F1 game so far. It looks nice when there is no tearing. Nice options etc. You can see cars on track in quali, practice etc.

Oh and by the way. Career mode is gone, no driver test at the start, no working your way up through the ranks just pick a team and race.

For now AVOID this game on PC or if you use a controller. It has potential if it's fixed but this is Codemasters ‪#‎wedontgiveatoss‬ so don't hold your breath.

(Sorry for my bad English)
You can change controller settings options in the file "action_map_preset_win.xml", the path is something like "C:/ProgramFiles/Steam/steamapps/common/F1 2015/actionmaps". If you use a gamepad and preset1 so search "xi_Preset1" then you can change value of deadZone for "Steer Left"/"Steer Right" or others options.
Good luck.

Thanks Kimmy. I have calmed down somewhat from when I wrote the post lol. I am still gobsmacked by the state of the game though. I have been trying to contact Codemasters to try and open some dialogue through various means and it's like they have a contact blackout at the moment.

I used to tweet with Steve Hood quite a bit and as much as they have had their problems in the past he was always pretty honest with me. Unfortunately, that boat has now saild too.

If I get any sort of reply I will post it.

I am with your rant as I am so annoyed and feel very let down (again) by Codies

IMO Codemasters constantly push out unfinished games and have done for the past 5 years at least, which is I guess why they are in trouble financially.

F12015 is a perfect example of another "broken" F1 game from Codemasters and whats worse is even though it is a new game engine, it still has the same sorts of errors in it that the older F! CM games had such as random finishing positions in online races, broken Xbox controller defaults (I mean really!).

I too am going to write directly to CM and will see if I get a reply.

Thanks for the post @mmpaw37 . I currently use an official wired xbox 360 controller. I have an older one and a brand new one and they both behave the same. I may will take you up on your advice. It would be great to be able to do a lap without the steering suddenly snapping as it does now.

Fingers crossed that the fixes come as currently I have only been on the game for about 1 hour as it's un playable at the moment.

@Swampyajc. I have written to CM, tweeted them, sent them Facebook messages and e-mailed and have not had a reply as yet. Not even a polite thanks for getting in touch we are doing our best automated reply. All of my correspondence has been polite on point and constructive. It's very disappointing that they do not even have the manners for a basic reply.

If I do receive a reply I will be sure to share it.

We don't have any automated systems. It's just me, alone doing this!

I'm incredibly sorry if I've missed something and any feedback, I've been trying to grab as much as humanly possible to feed back to the dev teams to get these issues sorted as quick as possible.

Sorry again!

I'm not entirely sure what sort of answer you want. Would a yes or no justify something in some way? I'm honestly unsure what you're looking for.

I understand you may not be happy with the state the game is in, neither am I! All I can do is try to find the problems that people are reporting and pass this on to the teams so they can get a better look at it.

@LiteralZero
Can you post possible work arounds for this? I have the same problem and I managed to overcome temporarily the problem by connecting my controller after launching the game. A post stating possible workarounds for existing problems might relieve some of us.

Thanks

The issue with workarounds, is that not every issue can be sorted by them. Which issue are you referring to specifically? We are aware of an issue with 360 controllers and the deadzone in the sticks which is being looked into now.

@LiteralZero mate I don't think anyone is mad at you specifically, but just the fact that CM has placed ALL the responsibility of fixing bugs on YOU being able to randomly pick them out of a disorganized internet forum is absolutely, positively, ridiculous.

Is that the most efficient way to bug fix? We are depending on one community manager to sort through ALL these threads to weed out and organize all bugs and properly report them to the development team? It's not fair to you @LiteralZero, and most of all it's not fair to the community.

Some of the people in this thread are rightly pissed, they spent or budgeted money for this game that would have possibly gone in their petrol tank or on their dinner table...for real! I'm not saying we're starving because of buying a video game...but I am saying it is hard earned money.

Thousands of people would have gladly Alpha and Beta tested this game for CM...but we were shut out and hidden from the dev process from the start.

You know, I don't disagree with you at all and I would understand if people were mad at me, it's the nature of my job, and they are not wrong in their anger.

As I'm sure you're all aware, the company has gone through some changes in recent months, and I've only been here since March!

In our current situation, finding these bugs is the priority, regardless of how we do it. We need to find the most common bugs first and figure out the best way to move forward. That isn't to say that every bug is not important, it is and I want this game to work as much as you guys do. I just have to inform Dev what high priority things are there and work from that point.

I understand people are annoyed and disappointed with it, I would never blame any of you for that. I am a gamer first and foremost and I know how it feels. I don't want to make excuses, I just want to try and help the teams in the studio fix the issues as fast as possible and get everyone playing the game that they paid for.

This has been mentioned to me a few times, from what I know from people who have been doing this a damn sight longer than me is that FOM would never allow it because of our contract with them. That being, said, I have fed this back to a number of people and will continue to inquire, as it's not a bad idea if we do it smartly.

I have news.

I am in contact with a journalist who is very interested in the story of what is happening with F1 2015. I have not said anything out o order, nothing nasty, I simply pointed his media outlet in the direction of this forum and they contacted me asking me to write to one of the journalists with the consumers story. I have done this, I was fair, honest and to the point, I did not slag Codies off I simply told the story of what has happened so far and used this forum and others as points of reference.

I will let you know when and  if I hear anything back.

back with the old games, head of dev Steve Hood used to have a profile on these forums and post every know and then to tackle people's problems. It was rare, but helpful. We also had a few other CM people on here, INCLUDING a community guy as well. where are the DEVS???
