2000th bug report topic celebration.

Recommended Posts

Ladies and gents,

Last week we've past the 2000th bug report topic for this 4 months old game!

This went by totally unnoticed, but as this has to be some kind of new record, I think some kinds of celebrations are in order.
Of course, some of them got combined over time, so we might have crossed that milestone some time ago. We're now at 2157 topics and counting! so it's still going really well.

Big shoutout to the guys having to read and respond to all of those, your job can't be easy at an average of 19 bug report topics a day.
(For the record, I only counted the "Gameplay issues and bugs TA" topics, and not the "Systems and connectivity TA" topics, which would add another 300 topics to the mix)

Everyone must feel really proud of reaching such a milestone. And this game keeps on exceeding expectations.
Only last week we got the long-awaited return of the VSC glitch (https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/63166-bug-pc-vsc-bug-is-back/?tab=comments#comment-575541)
and more and more new ones are getting introduced with every new patch.

Big thanks to all those people finding time to file those bug reports. As you can see it's really helping.
My suggestion for a celebration event is the release of a "2000 bug reports" themed helmet, gloves, and underpants DLC.  But if you have any better ideas feel free to shout!

I'm proud of you guys.

And it would only be right.
This is a HUGE milestone. I don't think any other game has such a dedicated community trying so, so hard to do the developers' job.

And we only have to pay 70 euro's to be a playtester. It's a bargain if you think about it. Who wouldn't want to play a broken game and spend months filing bug reports with little to no return?

But that's the way it goes almost everywhere I am registered, in almost every game forum.
Can anyone please list me any game for which you can find absolutely 0 bugs?

It’s a sad milestone indeed. As most most people here and as a huge F1 fan, I really want this game to do great. And I don’t mean just financially, but to be the best F1 experience one can get in a game.

Sadly I was really disappointed by this years iteration. Especially because they seemed to prioritize microtransactions over innovation and a smooth gaming experience. I also posted a few suggestions, and reported bugs (but I stopped, because I got the feeling it was pointless). As a matter of fact, I’ve stopped playing the game completely by now.

I just saw their last Twitter post about their nomination for best game at TIGAAwards, and if we could please vote for them.. that just feels like a huge middle finger to the customer to be honest. 54 people replied to the tweet, mostly negative.

The majority of the posts on this forum are also negative, including a couple of my own replies.

I’m not trying to be a **** here. But I really hope Codemasters shifts direction soon. But honestly, I don’t see that happening. F1 2021 is the first one I’m skipping sinds 2015.

I love F1, but this is just frustrating and isn’t worth my time and money anymore.

I find it insulting that a free game - Warzone, for example - gets an update at least once every couple of weeks yet the F1 games can go a couple of months with nothing until eventually they stop completely because next year's game is the new focus because gotta make more money!

I can't believe the engine nerfs only happened last week.

Current issues for me as a mainly career player:

The safety car doesn't exist

The weather screen shows it sunny when it's actually bouncing down

Jeff explains the practice programmes to me for the 1000th time during Abu Dabi in Season 5

AI don't do a second hot lap in quali

The safety care doesn't exist

The track acclimatisation gates go red when you drive through them

The safety care doesn't exist

and the safety car doesn't exist.

Oh and the game's reuse of cut scenes and voice lines from the last four years is cheap.

And there's no safety car.

You cannot compare Warzone to F1 that’s ludicrous. Also I’ve had the safety car many times so your childish repetition is false.

My comments focus on the game - if you don't agree then I respect that - but please do not make personal comments towards a forum member.

If there's no safety car in your game, you should change the setting to "safety car: on". The safety car comes out in every third race or so.

You bought it. That's the take away from the experience, what CM take to the bank each and every year.

He can compare it to Adolf Hitler's banana collection if he likes. As long as there is a relevance....and I think there is.

Don't worry, there will be another update, the 2020 F2 update for one. And Xmas DLC, obviously.

How? Warzones creators Activision have a bigger amount of resources and time compared to CM.

I hope you can appreciate the HUUUUGE greyzone between 0 bugs and 2000+ bug reports in 4 months.

The thing is we're at a point now where making an entirely new game is less work than fixing all the bugs in this one.

Exactly! the people in charge at codemasters are cheapskates that aren't ambitious enough with their game. There's clearly not enough people on the job, fixing 1 bug at a time all the while introducing 3 new ones with every patch.  But I think we're all in agreement that codemasters SHOULD put more effort in their f1 games which is why the comparison is spot on.

Want to make something good? you need to invest the time and effort. Codies have been half-arsing this for way too long now.
(And if they're incapable, they should admit defeat and give the license to a more capable company)

100% true! We all, myself included, facilitate this behavior. Like I said, I’m skipping the next one. Not that they’ll care about one less customer, but it’ll save me some headaches.
I rather support a studio that has a passion for their games and the sport. For instance, I’m really impressed with what Milestone has done with the MotoGP franchise.

The thing is. the fact that we 'facilitate' doesn't make codies policies and way of scamming their customers less disgusting.
They have a monopoly on f1 games. and people are always gonna buy it.

You can't expect people to make the right call in these matters. People just want to play f1 games. however **** they might be because there is no alternative.

Doesn't mean we can't call them on their scams. their lies. and their total incompetence. YES, I bought it.
But then again THEY said they were gonna make multiplayer a priority. They promised the world. and didn't openly communicate the terrible state the game that we would buy was in.
They even pay reviewers to keep quiet about all the bugs so you need to buy it to find out that they've been lying again.

More funny still: they want us to vote the game racing game of the year 🤣

They have literally no shame.

They have an ideal opportunity to break the mould here. Cars frozen for 2021 and tracks missing from 2020 due to Covid, DLC? Nope.

Really they could do a F1 2020 to F1 2021 update and add the tracks from this year. People will do it, the game will have longevity and they have no excuse for not fixing the bugs.

Yeah but they don’t have the sales figures of COD and never will. COD is played all around the world where as F1 is a very specific sport/game.

With less income they are unable to expand to the heights of Acitivision or EA for example.

ACC has a lot smaller developer team I've heard and that has a lot fewer issues and tiresome bugs happening, so it can be done. if your priorities are right.

Besides, I don't even think getting a few more people on it would endanger its profitability (but maybe that's my naivety)
I don't really believe this game is so close to break-even profit-wise, that getting more people in to make it better and actually work is a super risky thing to do.

Some things are just sensible investments though. as, in the long run, a working game will be way more viable and this game could have 20 times the online player base if the game actually functioned, giving it waaaaaay more exposure on twitch and youtube, boosting sales even more. now people who see the game on twitch only see the ******** and people being so, so, so tired of this stuff...

If they don't realize that, then this whole 'codies f1 game' endeavor was just a HUGE missed opportunity and a big shame for all gaming f1 fans that FOM hasn't managed to find a developer for their license that actually tried.

(and for the record, I do realize all the individual people working on the game have its best interest at heart and are really trying their best)

But the evidence is undeniable that:                 It's-Not-Working-Out-Like-This

Yes, people are gonna keep buying it, and no, it doesn’t make it less disgusting. And yes, you should definitely say something. I have for years, but now I’m just tired of this ****. Nothing ever changes.

you already know next year is going to be exactly the same.

They’ll just laugh as they ignore our suggestions, and launch another set of skins to the item store.

At some point you just have to step away. Gaming is supposed to fun, remember.
I’m actually enjoying MotoGP 20 right now (I wouldn’t mind Milestone getting the F1 license tbh).

Also, have you read the replies on that Twitter post? 😂

A biannual release with a paid DLC roster and track update for the next season, would be much better indeed.

No we're not. we have no 2000+ bugs.
Just because a few people get upset because they are too bad at the game, and then blame it on the game and cm, doesn't mean they are legitimate bug reports.
Actually the game works just fine with some bugs.
it's just presumably exaggerated.
Even Fifa has more bugs.

I mean, for example the Safety car
How can codemasters fix the safety car if it comes out in some cases and not in others?
They probably can't reproduce that because the sc is coming out all the time for them.
Is there a bug because it doesn't come out with you?
With me it comes out, so I don't know what kind of bug it is.

do you know how gamig works these days?
You see a function, interpret it wrong, write a bug report in the forum and another player interprets it correctly and doesn't have this bug.
I have seen this 100000 times, not only in the cm forum. EA (NHL, FIFA) the same thing, 2K (WWE,NBA) the same thing.

instead of dealing with things, you let your own incompetence trigger you, rise up and get into something that is not really there.
And then you blame the game, blaming it for being one of the most buggy games of all time, even though it got along really well with the big trade press, without many bugs being mentioned.

Sorry for my bad english, i hope everyone understands what i mean.

A fan of the 'one race' mode myself. How does that help? 🙂

It's a wonderful thing isn't it! In fact, I was wondering why my Ferrari cockpit starts flashing like a rave party if the car ghosts. It must be a celebratory bug in lieu of this achievement! So gracious not to make the feature only available from the in-game store.

Besides, the bug report section is a great way to fill a few minutes of extra time and get some good laughs. My recent favorite is having tires at absolute zero temperature, -273C, for the start of the race. I just watched a video from a certain streamer. He was about to get pole in a league race but the game threw him out of the session on the start-finish straight. He re-joined for the formation lap and his tires and engine were at absolute zero temperature. Man, the belly laugh I had when he went absolutely livid after the start, saying: "MY TIRES ARE LITERALLY THE COLDEST THING IN THE UNIVERSE". :classic_laugh:

It got me thinking - if this bug happens in a wet race, will the road freeze? Now that would be a party trick.

You think Ferrari's stop with Vettel was slow in Imola? Well, at least his mechanics didn't come out of the garage 25 seconds after he stopped for service.
