oldmanracernc 0 Posted November 4 I am new to the game and play in casual mode. I am racing in career mode and have run about 10 races. I had to replaced one engine components after the 3rd race and the ICE after the 4th. I have had to replace an ICE and other components after each race for the last 2 races. Is this normal in casual mode? In casual mode the game seems not to allow the player to control fuel modes and ERS which could effect engine wear. Am I driving incorrectly? Is there a solution to this problem? Help will be appreciated!!! Oldmanracer.
BarryBL 4,313 Posted November 5 Hi @oldmanracernc The engine management system will still be something you have to manage with the 'Casual' race settings. These race settings only change the on-track experience.
BarryBL 4,313 Posted November 5 Hi @oldmanracernc Thanks for the post on my profile, I'll answer it here as its easier. Fuel and ERS are set to 'Auto' to help players on the casual race style. We felt that adding extras to the race style would be a little counter intuitive as players are learning the mechanics of the game and the tracks, so we didn't want to add anything extra so you could focus on the driving. To access them, I'd recommend practicing on 'Casual' until you are comfortable, and then move to 'Standard' but with a lot of the assists on. (Things like Braking assist and racing line would be good useful starter points 👍)
oldmanracernc 0 Posted November 5 BarryBL, Thanks again for responding and offering advice. I am not understanding what you are suggesting. I am using casual and as stated before I seem to be having excessive engine and component failures during races in career mode. Replacing engines and components gets me grid spot penalties. Can you advise me on what to do to avoid engine failures while I am playing career mode in Casual style?
GnrDreagon 78 Posted November 5 Invest in durability upgrades. If you don't want to bother with your engine parts you should play grand prix or championship mode where you get new ones every race, as far as I know.
dshepsman 56 Posted November 5 Different parts wear out due to different factors. The Engine (ICE) wear faster due to high revving/overheating. Electronics wear out quicker if you ride the kerbs constantly. Also, high wear on the electrics wear the other components quicker. Invest into durability in R&D to help. oldmanracernc 0 Posted November 6 Thanks for the advice. I think I may be overrevving. Don't know about the electronics as I think they are automatically controlled in Casual Model oldmanracerNC

Like the turbo, MGU-K etc. You cant do anything to influence how the turbo or electronics work while driving. What i was meant about the electronics is that the more you bump over the kerbs, the quicker you will wear that component out. That in turn will increase how quickly the other engine parts wear out. Much like an overworn ICE or turbo will reduce your power output

GnrDreagon 78 Posted November 7 Yeah, part of why it's happening might be because you're in casual mode. If it controls engine modes as well it might run in high engine mode a lot. Although I have no idea if that is the cause. Probably you just need to invest in durability because parts wear pretty quick without upgrades.
