This is the feedback i sent to Codemasters

Recommended Posts

Not trying to break forum rules, but it is verbatim what i sent to Codemasters customer service:

Is anyone there at Codemasters gonna listen to my feedback concerning your latest F1 game? Probably not, because clearly you've never listened to any feedback in the last 5 years. You guys need to quit and get a real job... the F1 2015 game you've released each year has always been lacking yet you haven't rectified the issues in each new release. It's almost as if you guys are laughing at us. Making yourselves rich off our money while you continue to gives us garbage! NO MORE MONEY FROM ME!!! NEVER AGAIN!!!

For starters, this is now the 5th dismal failure in a row of your game. In time past I warned you each year via email that I will not keep buying this shit if you can't get your act together, and I kept giving the benefit of the doubt just hoping that you guys would take this game as seriously as we do. Obviously we want to enjoy it, but really if we be honest, you have failed dismally and repeatedly.

12 months i've been waiting eagerly for this 'new' F1 2015, a long eager wait after all your other previous failures, and especially because we have the new generation consoles, and your claim to fame this time was a new physics-engine, superior visuals and 60fps blah blah… well let me get straight to the point, day one release I've played it and i've taken it back and got a refund, simple as that, and now i'm done with F1 until a new game company takes-over the franchise license. If you can't get it right after five years, then we have no hope. The rights to produce this game should be taken off you. We gamers and F1 lovers out here have been deprived all these years because of your incompetence. Codemasters is clearly incompetent, and I should've known when you couldn't get the game sorted back in 2010-2011.

I've bought a copy every year of F1 since 2010, and each year niggling deficiencies were apparent, you know i'm talking the truth, and I gave decent legitimate feedback each year advising where things could be improved, but each year as sure as day follows night, same shit. However, because of our love of F1, we wanted to believe, yeah? And assumed that maybe you would get on top of the technical aspects of the game from a coding point-of-view, but really if we be honest, obviously you guys are just incompetent, and clearly the team there at Codemasters are amateurs. Obviously you don't care and are only in this for the money, because when people do things out of passion the results speak for themselves, attention to detail and other aspects that make the game shine, but where is the 'thrill' factor in this game?

I'll state from the outset that the most immediately apparent thing to me was the obvious under-steer of the cars, so why have you released this garbage to us in this state? Shall we say your love of MONEY? You're in it for the money! When someone cares about the work they do the results always show, but never have we seen amazing results from you, all we've seen is the same crap, same incompetence every year with slight tweaks here and there trying to pass-off as an all new. FUCK!!! And yet can bet your ass this is a rant!

And what's with the auto-save function making us wait for three seconds every time we're backing out of the menus after making changes to the options etc; what a pain in the ass! How the hell did you dream-up that utter nuisance? And after the auto-save making us wait needlessly, we then have to press the button again to get back to the play-screen, FUCK!!!

Do your programmers sit around dreaming up ways to deliberately annoy us and spoil the game and make us wait? You people make ludicrous decisions which (not 'that') interfere with our enjoyment of the game. The 'needless' things that might seem inconsequential but actually cause severe frustration. Couldn't you have made it do the auto-save function seamlessly in the background without needing to make us stop and wait?

And what's up with the team engineer's comments over the radio, he sounds sterile and bland almost like he's a robot. Take a listen at the subtle (but crucial) difference between the voice-acting in your game and the voice-acting in “Project Cars”; how is it that you can't even take care of such a small but important thing? The small things add-up cumulatively to the overall experience and satisfaction of the game, between a satisfying overall experience and a drab one.

Any halfwit can hear how sterile and contrived and robotic and repetitive he sounds! He certainly doesn't sound like he's on our team, that's for sure. And anyway, with the volume of the game on the TV the low volume level of his voice from the controller can't be heard properly, so it just sounds like a pesky annoying mosquito in the background.

Now to the major problems:

1: The car engine noise. Your kidding right? Muted muffled fucking garbage! Even with the latest new toned-down engines in real-life, they sound nothing like your game. There is still a high-pitched tone in real life, and that's one important factor to give the sensation of acceleration and speed, the auditory aspect, but it's totally absent in your game. I simply cannot believe that you released it in this state, are you fucking deaf, can't you hear how unrealistic it is and overly muted?? Your only argument might be that the sound is from the perspective of the driver with the helmet on, but no, that's just ridiculous. Take a look at the sound in Project Cars, fucking brilliant! Just what we need, and convincing, but your game, what a joke!

2: The A.I, same atrocious shit as all your other iterations of this game! One example… I'm getting smashed up the backside by the other driver's while i'm going full speed down a long straight. WTF!!! Same shit as your other games, all over again!!!!!!!!!!!!

3: The graphics; go see the totally realistic look of the F1 'tires' in Project Cars, the texture and realism looks utterly real and true to life, 99% real, but then look at yours, just plastic-looking smoothed-over unrealistic garbage. You don't have any excuse about this one; that proves you're incompetent.

4: How many times do you think we need to restart the session? Many, many times! Eight fucking button pushes to restart!!! Are you coders at Codemasters on fucking drugs, or just trying to be assholes??

9 out of ten times literally when I enter the options menu, it's to “Restart Session”. This option should be immediately above the first highlighted option when we enter the menu, and that would solve the problem of annoying arduous tedious button-pushing to restart.

5: In “Pro” mode all we do is slide around like we're on a fucking ice-skating rink. You can't be serious? There is nothing sim about Pro mode, you have the internal physics settings all wrong! It's an unplayable mess!

6: The constant waving of our drivers hand from the cockpit in collisions etc, whether we're in the wrong or not, same gesture every time regardless of the scenario, same pathetic repetitive gesture over and over again. Can't you come-up with variations for the sake of realism? Yep, you guys are definitely on drugs; either that or you're just lazy beyond lazy.

7: In manually changing gears when hitting the threshold peak of a gear before needing to change-up to the next gear, the sound is atrocious, unrealistic garbage, and not even close to the real thing! Just one more fucked aspect spoiling the game.

8: This is the big one: the sense of speed in F1 2015 is for the most part lacking! While I was playing my mind kept bugging me that something is wrong here, no sense of speed. Something is very wrong with your graphics programming. Hire someone who knows what the fuck he is doing. Currently you're all friends there at Codemasters, right? The guy who got hired for the graphics might be capable in theory by his qualifications, but clearly he isn't actually qualified, clearly he knows nothing about motion blur or how to implement it properly. Hire someone who knows what they're doing, you need a better programmer.

Only when shadows from trees across the track are visible do we get a true sense of speed. Many times I wasn't looking for issues in this area but I just keep sensing the problem, my brain wasn't telling me were were racing at high-speed, I couldn't visually see it. I thought to myself that two factors are causing this issue... The graphics textures of the road need to be recoded to show more realistically the rd passing by immediately in front of and at the side of us, and the rd side rails and fences etc passing by, you need to introduce 'convincing' motion blur, not too much, just enough, and in a realistic way.

Take a look at Project Cars, take a look at it. After taking your game back I swapped it for “Project Cars”, and everything wrong with your game was right in the F1 part of Project Cars. No longer having a frown and sombre vibe in my mind while driving, everything just looked believable in terms of speed. In Project Cars the motion blur was just right, implemented expertly, neither underdone nor overdone, it was perfect to give a realistic sensation of acceleration and speed. And the totally realistic sound of the engine just topped it off to make it complete, the sense of accelerating and heading down the track at high-speed was utterly convincing. And… Go look at the realistic-looking tires on the starting grid of the F1 Cars in Project Cars, and then look at yours, woeful!

9: The vapour of fuel at the starting grid coming out of the rear of each car, it's over-done, to stark, you need to tone it down a touch.

10: Under-steer in general is way too prevalent, you need to adjust the internal physics settings to allow tighter more acute tight steering into corners.

11: And for the record, I don't understand why everyone on the net is crying about the absence of “Career Mode”. I couldn't give a fuck about career mode FYI. Don't need it, don't want it. You just need to concentrate on getting the other big problems sorted before worrying about career mode.

Whether you think i'm a disrespectful asshole or not, at least i'm telling you accurate facts and good observations. I say if you fix all the issues I've mentioned, this game will finally shine and be what it was meant to be.

Goodluck.

PS: Hire some better programmers, that's the only way to fix this.

Top kek when my patience pays off and the upcoming patches fix the game.

It's still unacceptable to release a wank PC game, because that's exactly what Codies have done; the quality is genuinely wank for 2015.
However, I'm still getting enjoyment enough out of the game, which will tide me over until they fix it.

More fool them if they forget about the issues. I don't think they can afford to. Bear with them, and if they don't come through, then don't buy the game next season; simple as that.

There are some fair points in the OP.

I have noticed that the AI is a bit lacking, having had Massa drive in to the back of me in the run from Ascari to the Parabolica during a Quick Race in Monza. The starts are also incredibly orderly with everyone setting off in formation. None of the cars seem to over or under-perform or try to take an advantage.

The raised hands do make me laugh and sometimes wish the driver would drive rather than gesticulate, much like I thought about Alonso ten or so years ago. I was nearly seasick watching the animation of the car pulling in to its pit box too, the turn was so violent.

The engine noise struck me as reasonably realistic when I was watching a replay. I could relate to it compared to being trackside anyway, apart from it not including the whistle of the turbos (part of me thinks that would give you a headache within a few minutes anyway).

Honestly, it was hard to take this seriously after you complained about waiting three seconds for autosave.

Dude, read the opening post (it just takes 30 mins) and then tell me how on earth i could add something constructive to this. This is just a pointless rant, way too long and written in a very immature and rude way. Do you really believe that anyone at CM will take this guy serious and read this to the end? Thats not even remotely constructive.

I'm not entirely sure who you're trying to call the fool.

But anyway, I have the game for PC, just like all the others. PC gaming is cheaper in the long run. I'd rather pay £650 to build a good gaming PC, and pay upwards of £20 less for games, than to pay £300 for a console and then £45 for games. I got my copy of F1 2015 for £17, so I'm not as angry as console owners.

Although I shouldn't be entertaining your manner of speaking with a response, I'll just go ahead and correct you by saying I paid £17 for a game which is 'currently broken*'.

Besides, I'm having more than £17 worth of fun whilst playing it, because I don't have all the issues other people have. So yes, what a bargain!

Most PCs are out of date weeks after buying them, but it doesn't render them obsolete. Consoles were 'out of date' even before they were released. This PC will do me for the next couple of years, and I've had the majority of the hardware for a year already. I tend to buy 1 component per upgrade, so the money I save from buying PC games and not console games covers the cost, and then some. It's a financially efficient platform.

I'm not sure if it's realistic or not but when you're in the pits in practice or qualifying the cars driving by sound like cats fighting.
