The most frustrating game I have ever played

Recommended Posts

When I started my championship season, for the first 5-10 laps, I honestly believed this was the best F1 game ever and one of the best racers I'd ever played. Then, I realised it was one of the worst. While the AI are massively improved, and the handling of the cars is brilliant, I really need to just vent my frustration about this game in a place where hopefully someone at Codemasters reads it and actually gives a damn. I sent an email to Codies on Saturday demanding answers, and with them yet to respond, I'm assuming they're busy working on a patch, or at least I hope so.

I've seen a lot of people on these forums defending this game to the hills, and I'm struggling to understand why. Why should we not expect more from our £40-50 we spend on a game? We've got less on this game than we have on the past 5. No safety car for me is one of the biggest disappointments. It's been brilliant for me in the past 4 games and I can't understand why they wouldn't include it. It spices up races and makes you have to react and thing in seconds. Then, there's the formation lap. Not only have we been asking for it for the past 5 years, but it was on a Playstation 3 game from 2006... Please explain to me how Codemasters can't include it on any of their games but Sony could back then. For those of you reading and thinking this isn't necessary, that's down to a matter of opinion, but for me at least I'd love this authenticity. Then, I'd love to hear how the entire Codemasters team forgot, or even funnier if this is the case, decided not to include the weather for the whole weekend is beyond me. Then, no career mode really was a massive loss for me. I'm a big football, cricket and tennis fan as well as Formula 1. Can I go and play tennis, football, and cricket? Yes. Can I go and drive a Formula 1 car? No. Career mode is as close as I will ever get, and the little kick I get out of seeing my name on the screen driving alongside my heroes is great.

Then, there's the faults and bugs with the game, here's just some of the ones I've seen since I got the game on release day:

- Impossible to connect online
- Too many punctures
- Flying cars
- Impossible to have a good start without TC
- All assists on Pro Season mode
- Slow AI in turn 1,2 Catalunya
- 4 random wheels driving along during races
- When pulling in for a pit stop the car stops in front of the pit box and doesn't move for the remainder of the race (Has happened to me and the AI)
- Poor graphics overall and a buffering in the distance
- The drivers hand goes up during every contact
- Poor sound from the engine
- Driving out of pit lane and the gearbox suddenly drops to 2nd

I can't believe that we're at a point where the 5th F1 game Codemasters have made is their worst. We're at a stage now where I'm afraid it's clear for all to see that either Codemasters don't have the manpower to produce the game or just fail to listen to their customers. Either way, I feel they're in their last chance saloon with the next game.
