All this could have been so easily avoided!

Recommended Posts

What seems to have happened here with the stripped back features and bugs within the game could have been so easily avoided. What we have effectively been sold here at full price is a prologue game. Look at Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, what we had there was a game released on then next gen to show people what can be achieved with graphics and handling models etc and to keep fans eager for the upcoming full version of the game. The only difference here is that it retailed at £20, i looked around game yesterday and saw it retailing for £54.99!

I've seen interviews saying how they couldnt quite get career mod in but theres alot they want to do, and they have loads if features to input in next years edition but again didnt have time. So why didnt they just market and sell F1 2015 as it is a stripped back version of the game, demonstrating the good graphics and handling model we now have and also showing off the much improved AI and sell for £20 instead of charging £54.99.

Why can't they just use us as testers? Let us play an alpha beta build and most of the bugs/glitches could be ironed out before release.

Sadly Codemasters aren't backed by a huge company like PD is, if they were then the studio wouldn't be so small and you wouldn't see so many problems on launch  ;) PD can easily make a loss due to Sony backing them. I only paid £27 for my copy on PC, so not much more than GT5P. Sony and Microsoft take a cut of each game, which is why the price is high on consoles.

Oh well. What's the reasoning? Does it cost anything to release a build to the public?

Gran turismo makes f1 2015 look like outrun 1980. God knows what GT 7 will do to it. In all honesty guys i thoguht project cars sucked at first but compared to this monstrosity, project cars wins hands down.

I dare say part of the reason could be our friends at FOM again... given how much they supposedly micro-manage the appearance of everything in the final release, they'd probably veto the very idea of releasing an incomplete early build with inaccurate cars, liveries etc.

Perhaps they should have made sure Mr. Fulton would not have left to do his own thing?
Maybe we should start to petition Playground Games to put a bit in or find sponsors to buy the license. Heck CM, are all bridges burnt to the fella? Can't you outsource certain design features? Because you are lacking the COMPETENCY clearly.

Ever since he left every title released lacked the final bit of 'AHHH OOOOH'.

My bet is that they are cutting corners everywhere and we are left in the dark as to why certain features don't work. They further don't know how to fix them and thus cannot disclose anything prior to release. BIG SECRECY HERE. And to top it off the test/review copies were sent to official online and press magazines on the day of release. You cannot get shadier than that. They very well KNEW what they were about to release!!

What it basically balls down to is this: Ethics. CM has ZERO thereof. (they remind me of Microsoft actually)

A beta product is unfinished. If FOM don't want us to see the unfinished article, then the idea is dead in the water whatever they call it.

The definition of beta within software development can be somewhat loose, but it's generally a release that contains not just bugs but possibly unfinished features and there may yet be non-existent features that will be in the final release. It is rarely, however, just the final version with the bugs.

The beta phase might also see several beta releases so as to ascertain the feedback of the community of the state of the sofware as a whole with regards to usability, design, etc.. it's kind of more of a prototype.

In my opinion games like this could be a very good way of ignighting an interest in F1 for the younger generation. Unfortunately all Bernie Ecclestone is interested in is money and charges ridiculous fees to code asters for the licence. If anything Bernie should be paying code masters.

The sad fact is that F1 is run by a horrible little dictator who can't see the bigger picture and until that changes games developers will always be under financial pressure to get a game out every year whether it's ready or not.

Hey guys let's calm down. You know fact is that almost every sportsgame series had stripped down transition to next gen (FIFA14, NHL15 and now the new McIlroy Golf which is a joke compared to last gen golf). If you are going to create a new engine it means making design choices and time is limited. So I am just ok with that and I am glad if CM is building up gradually over the next years to add new/old features again to the game.

What's not ok is the fact that the game has so much bugs. And what CM must do to make me buy the next game is to keep support and patches going until the game is behaving like it should.

So please guys. Stop complaining about left out features and start concentrating on the bugs. Report them without being too emotional and let CM fulfill the promise of patching the game further. If they don't comply then don't buy the next game anymore.
