Best ai in recent f1 games

So I have f1 15,17,18 and 19 on my hard drive but not installed and having heard that the 20 ai are a step back and suffer from bad ai trains I was trying to remember which of the previous versions had decent ai . I know they all suffer from been on total rails but least one must have a half decent aggressive ai more towards each other really as ai trains just kill the enjoyment for me. So before I download one of the previous edition anybody have any memory of which one is the better version.

To be honest mate I think that this year's AI have improved a lot.. I love the way AI and Codemasters had done a fantastic job.. exist people who are so mad and saying criticals about but they don't know how to choose the right difficult level to play and to enjoy it entirely the game.. if you have the right value to set you will enjoy a lot this F1 2020 game.. isn't important to play at 110 difficulty only for saying at everyone that.. what really matters and counts is the enjoyment and pleasure when you are gamming.. if you get the right value you will have a very realistic AI

I can confirm this that the AI is the best in 20...not perfect,still of track action missing in my opinion,they are driving too perfect,but it is ok. They loose traction at least once in a while and even crash sometimes. There is way to improve though.

Yes I don't really want to go back to older versions mainly due to the horrible old ers system. and f1 20 is on a decent sale on the store rite now. but as I only play single player I don't want to be stuck racing against ai trains.  but yeah  suppose they never lost traction or crashed ever on old ones so maybe 20 although not great may be the best .

The 110 AI is too slow at certain tracks is my only negative. I did a 50% race at Singapore which I qualified 3rd with Mediums and ended up winning the race by over 40 seconds. I'm fast but I'm far from the fastest on the game. It shouldn't be that easy to win. They 2 stopped when 1 stop is all that's necessary.... had they qualified on Mediums. They brake wayyyyy too early as well.

@Sir_Overtakesalot umm you did a 1 stop and they did a two stop so it isnt really that bad. That means you had good pace. Starting on softs means doing a two stop in singapore. The ai only were about 5 seconds slower

Think of it in your mind... You do 1 stop and the rest do 2 stops. The gap should be around 20-30 seconds. 40 is a little too much but its okay. They can have bad races sometimes too

Yeah the AI trains kinda ruin the experience sometimes and they really cant overtake each other.

Yes that what I heard and few videos I watched they do look like they  suffer with ai trains. Really hope there focus for next year game is ai as they really do need work especially in rain I mean it funny really how perfect they are when the gp in turkey showed how tricky wet races can be yet on the game they never even slide ,miss a apex etc. easily the weakest part of the game modes, graphics are decent but the actual racing is stale .

Yeah theyre too good in the wet and they form trains in the dry!

But aren't trains realistic???
Depending of track, in Bahrain I was part of train but we changed positions and there was no 2 laps where first car was same. In Zandvoort/Barcelona I was in train and no way to overtake, especially if car ahead has better engine. I found it very realistic. If train is Ferrari-RB-Merc, I would expect it to turn around in couple laps. If it doesn't it's a problem. If train is Bottas-Max-Leclerc I would expect it to stay like that forever unless Bottas makes mistake (which he doesn't in game ).

They are realistic I agree but are they fun to play or even to watch irl? Especially season after season knowing that the ai literally only over take after drs straight again probably realistic but a bit more dynamic ai you know different driver traits some more accident prone ie spin in wet etc. just as single player experience whilst modes and content you can't fault it but in terms of replayability for me anyway  19 got dull very quickly and was hoping 20 would of improved the wheel to wheel racing especially between ai v ai but maybe next year may improve this area hopefully.

Hmmm i think F1 2019 has the best A.I. 🙂 In F1 2020 they overtake less then in F1 2019 ...

A.I. RANKING in my opinion : 

1. F1 2019
2. F1 2020
3. F1 2018
4. F1 2017
5. F1 2016

In Overall F1 2020 is the better game, but A.I. in F1 2019 is better. R&D System is 100% better in F1 2020 ... You cant be Champion with Williams in 2-3 Season in F1 2020. In F1 2019 you can won the Championship in Season 3 with Williams.

Yes I agree that it is a overall better game I did actually have the game at realese but traded it when I had multiple races of ai trains . Was hoping patches would of addressed this issue but not sounding like they have but yes 20 is the better game but less overtaking and more ai trains does not sound fun for me .

A.I. Train problem is because of new OVERTAKE system. It is harder to overtake this year then in F1 2019. OVERTAKE button is very strong this year and if defendig car use OVERTAKE button it is very hard to Overtake that car.  So it is not just hard for A.I. to overtake, it is harder to us HUMAN to overtake A.I. also 🙂

@SabolcSaghmeist the AI is much better than last year's game. Last year's AI was too robotic in the dry and the wet but in 2020 the AI is aggressive and can make mistakes just like the player. This has improved the realism and made wheel to wheel racing more fun. In F1 2019 they were robotic but now thy are aggressive. And 2019's AI is easier to beat. And the AI train problem is not because of the overtake button.... It's because of DRS. Drs is very powerful irl and in the game. And when the train is leaded by slower cars and there are faster cars at the back it's about who has the much better engine.

And its not that hard for us humans to overtake them too. Usually when you are chasing and AI, you either close up or fall back. You fall back when you have a much slower car and/or slower tires. When you are closing up and you both are using OVERTAKE on suppose.. the DRS straight, and you have DRS. The DRS will still help you overtake the AI because you both are deploying the same amount of ERS. It's just that the AI is much better in 2020 and overtaking them in some circumstances is harder, but not sooooooo easy like on F1 2019. On 2019 overtaking was super easy and you could win every race even with a high AI percentage.

That is the reason !!! We saw more overtakes in F1 2019 from A.I. and some people want to see a lots of overtakes from A.I. not like in F1 2020.
