Custom Weather in Career Mode ???!!!

Recommended Posts

Hey Codemasters !!!

Your second biggest problem in the game is that we dont have CUSTOM WEATHER option in DRIVER CAREER MODE and MY TEAM MODE, so please you can add that option also in next patch. Yeye i know in real life we cant choose Weather, but this is not a real life ... This is a game and i think lots of us hate to race in Rain. 🙂 Thx in advance ...

  1. EQUAL CARS IN GRAND PRIX MODE / SINGLE PLAYER
  2. CUSTOM WEATHER IN DRIVER CAREER MODE and MY TEAM MODE
  3. A.I. ENGINE FAILURE OPTION ON or OFF

In my opinion you need to fix this 3 problems in the game ... thx

Racing in dynamic weather is a great feature and really mixes the race up and really a good challenge so I don't think they ever going to add custom weather in career mode. the huge issue that makes wet/changeable condition's  not fun is the fact the ai are just not affected by it at all still perfect every corner every lap whilst the player especially if you run reduced/or no traction is sliding around and if you run a high difficulty level you know 1 mistake and it so costly as the ai are going to be perfect so you can't catch up . And we just need player car failure and more of them ie suspension failure/ random puncture etc to match ai failure again mixes the racing up to have unpredictability for both ai and player.

That is okey, but sometimes A.I. Speed difference beetween Clear and Wet/Rain is so big. That is the other reason why i want to race always in Clear weather. We need sometimes different difficulty in Rain and also different in Clear races. It is very hard to find always perfect difficulty for A.I. So its easier to have always clear weather. I hope you understand my view.

Yes I see your point but there answer would be that career mode is aiming to replicate a real driver career. and there is no doubt that some real life driver's hate racing in wet weather but have zero control over it so to replicate it  you also have zero control over it in game you just have to practice and find set up to help . I remember in 19 I was in that situation matched ai at 103 per cent in dry then wet I was 2 second off and I changed my wings to 6 front and 8 rear and I found 2 second and was back matching the ai without having to alter ai between conditions. Just turn perc ferme off so you can switch set ups between sessions see if that helps .

Most of the times Clear and Wet races are perfectly balanced, just on some tracks they are a little bit faster for me on wet races.  I would say this year is more better balanced race speed of A.I. on Clear and Wet races. In F1 2019 it was horrible, they were too slow in Acceleration, but in corners they were unrealisticly fast. This year in F1 2020 it is very well Balanced.

Last year when they introduced patch 1.14 to F12019, they unbalanced the wet driving for people that played with full assits. They were never able to match cars in the wet without being overpowered in the dry. So I see value in the feature. Afterall it is a game and if it creates more players that is a good thing. And I doubt it is a hard thing to prpgram.

Yes options are never a bad thing but I doubt it will get introduced especially on this year's game .as it not a big demand feature really and they have bigger issues I would say to address for this and next versions . And as stated above he reckons it already pretty balanced so wouldn't get my hopes up about the feature been added  . Now reducing the rain frequency and overhauling the scripted wet to dry changes and bringing back the system were it could be wet 1 part of the track and drying on other parts etc they I would say are additions people would appreciate more personally. And the ai logic in changeable conditions is a big deal it so easy to win as you know they always pit on there scripted lap regardless of weather rain is 5 min away so end up pitting for drys then lap or so later for inters and you end up over a pit stop ahead etc . Things like this and sc logic are things that need addressing to improve the overall game.

Good idea.  Last week I saw Lewis Hamilton request rain conditions in Istanbul.    Would make it much more realistic to have one person request the weather, rather than the world or in this case AI make it random. 🙄

To be clear, I'm all for realistic random weather.   Program that right, and we're good.   In career mode though, if it's balalnced right I'd rather have it random and out of my control.   If I can tell the game to make it rain in the last half of the race, then i know when to pit and change tires.   That seems kinda of.... counter productive to what really happens on F1 sundays.

So I'd rather see random weather, but have my team give me an actual real time weather forecast during the race if rain is in the forecast.    Tell me about it as the race is unfolding and let me and my team adjust accordingly.

Whats the fun in custom weather?    OK... we're in Suzuka.  I want a clean dry race because I struggle at this track.    Easy finishing result.   Does that feel good?  Not really.   I'd rather have what we have now... a simple forecast...    keep checking in with your engineer if rain is in the forecast as to when its coming...

I think people that request this just dislike the fact that its random, and they struggle to drive in the wet and hate how it impacts their championship standings.   I dont understand the want for a "realistic" simulation game, but wanting the control over weather..   That's as unrealistic as it comes.

If you want to race in Bahrain with rain...   run a fictional single grand prix race in rain there.   problem solved.  in career modes it should be randomized.  if you want the ability to make it sunny every race... fine...  to each their own.  but dont ruin the surprise element of weather for the rest of us.

First off, a rainy race or practice session here and there is absolutely ok. The problem here is the scripted races and weather - especially for myteam mode:

If the weather report speaks of a chance of rain, it will start in lap 18, say. If for some reason you (have to) restart the session, it will also start to rain in lap 18 and you will already know it in advance. The same is true for AI drivers having car failures and causing safety car etc.. Why do these events have to be scripted rather than occuring randomly? Cant be that hard to set a chance for failures which increases later in the race, and if you have to script all the weather, then at least do it in a way, that it might start or cease +/- 5 laps every time you restart the session.

Knowing when it will start raining and when it will cease again, plus knowing when Hamilton will pull over with engine trouble, is not like playing a game, its like watching a movie.

Bla Bla Bla everywhere ... Lots of us want custom weather, i dont know what is the problem to add that option in to the game (Driver Career, My Team) modes.
