F1 2020 Time Trial not working

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I seem to be having an issue with time trial. I just changed my steam username yesterday so not sure if that has to do with this issue. I also downloaded custom skin for my multiplayer car. I didn't have this issue before.

  • A detailed description of the issue. Please include any error codes here. - I am able to load time trial and start the run. All seems fine on the first lap but if I beat either the default ghost on a new track or my previous best on an old track, the ghost times go away, so does the leaderboard times and so the lap times are no longer saved.
  • Platform- PC (Steam)
  • What version of the game you are using (Shown on the start screen in the bottom left corner of the screen)- 1.13
  • Game-mode?- Time Trial
  • We need to be able to make your problem happen internally so we can fix the issue. Can you make the problem happen again?- Yes, restarted the game multiple times and retried. Also created a new profile within game to see if there was an issue with existing profile.
  • How do you make the problem happen?- go to time trial, I first was trying with my multiplayer car (Jordan F1 1999 mod) and then reverted to Aston Martin Red Bull Racing. It doesn't matter which track it is, the problem persists.
  • What troubleshooting have you attempted? Please always try to attempt to fix the issue - created new profile, tried different tracks, different cars. Also tried a new in game profile. Also restarted the game multiple times. The only time I didn't see an issue was when I couldn't beat my previous personal best. Even if my lap is invalidated but I beat the default ghost or previous personal best time, the issue persists.
  • What peripherals are you are using (gamepad, wheel make & model etc) - Thrustmaster TMX racing wheel.
  • Any screenshots or video of the issue? If the video is long, please include a timestamp for when the issue appears. - see attached images, 1 shows the laptimes with reference ghost times on the first lap while the other shows after beating the ghost time.

Hi @speedyvify,

With TT being a online tracked game mode, having the mod live and available is causing a flag on our anti-cheat.

What you have to do is totally remove the modification (which aren't allowed on the game, online HAS to be ran in the games designed form), update and verify the steam files and go from there. Please note that this does involve totally removing the mod from your local files to run. This is the same in Multiplayer events.

Hi @BarryBL,

thanks for the quick response. I wasn’t aware that a livery skin mod would be an issue. That is sad cause that livery was awesome. I wonder if there is a way to get the mod to be disabled for multiplayer and any other online modes. Otherwise, I will just remove the mod as you specified.

No problems @speedyvify

Yeah, any changes to the core game we release flag as potential cheats, even if they are just visual. No workaround I'm afraid, the mod will have to go. 🙂

Thanks @BarryBL, I had steam verify and update the necessary files. It is working again now.

Best that you can do is create a custom livery for the multiplayer car and then use that in TT as it is Merc performance. Hope this helps.

I understand your effort to combat "cheating". I am not a programmer but I don't see how a livery can modify the car's ability. In the same token, if you consider the populated fast laps, you will find sometimes that the top 10 are 6 to 8 seconds ahead of the majority of populated fast times. It is like this in many racing games, not just F1. Surely there is an explanation for this, not just modded liveries...

On the liveries discussion, this is classed as a modification from our base game that we release. Regardless of what sort of 3rd party addition this is, our cheat system detects it and blocks Online Services as a whole. The livery doesn't affect performance, but is a add-on not approved by Codemasters and F1.
