Steering drifts off to the right during any session. Please help fix

Recommended Posts

All of a sudden the other day the steering has started to drift off to the right during a session, whether its a race or time trial. The menus aren't scrolling and it doesn't happen on any other game. I've taken the disc out to clean it but still it's drifting off line. The pad i'm using is fine too. In cockpit view it's visible to see the steering wheel off centre. I have enjoyed the game until now, but this has ruined it for me. If any higher powers could please advise!!

Regards

In last years game I had the same thing, but to the left. Then realized I had the steering assist on by mistake..For some reason it made the car drift left.If your on pc with a controller.I think they are having a deadzone problem unless they allready fixed it.

Hi Kevin,
I've just double checked and I have all assists other than auto gears off. I'm on Xbox one. Only started the other day out of the blue. So frustrating

I also had the same problem and know exactly what you're talking about. I played the game for hours and didn't do anything to the controller that would damage it in anyway but suddenly during one of my races it started to drift to the right. Although after a while of this happening, I went off and came back the next day and it was fine again, then about half an hour later it started again, it is mainly brought on after a Right turn but also affects me on the straights. It is if I have moved the analogue stick slightly so the wheel would be turning. It also happens when I move the analogue the very slightest bit, the amount that it moves without actually moving the stick, only the amount of leeway that is built in to the controller (if that makes sense).

I'm also on Xbox one and don't see anything going right on the menus of the game or on any other game or the dashboard.

Hi Matt,
I have managed to fix the problem, I had to uninstall and delete all data from everywhere, install and the issue has gone. I will have to wait to see if it returns.

Hi Rookie84,
Thanks for the advice, just finished installing the game again and it seems to have worked from a few laps, cheers again!

Not sure if this has happened to you but it has come back, so I deleted all data again and re-installed it and I have done this every time it happened. I noticed that it happens whenever I leave a championship season, no matter how far I've played, if I leave after 1 session it comes back and if I play through 3 races it will still happen, any idea's anyone?

Shake your pad. Is there something rattling around inside? Could be the clip off the left analogue component has come off (happened me in pCars. Kept trying software fixes like yourself until I realised I had damaged the pad turning too violently!)

Because its got space on the left turning right beyond what you should be able to, can pop the left clip off. And the analogue is designed to 'stick at the extremes of up down left and right. So when turning left the right clip is helped by the frame, so it returns to normal, same with up and down. But when the left clip has popped out
turning right will stick at the max right position and much more slowly return to center making the car pull right

At the very start of that video you can see a small grey clip off the earlier pads. I had to glue mine in place but its working now (although I messed up a little and L3 got glued lol)

I'm experiencing it on the PC. When you move the analogue slightly, the wheel in-game would just turn 45 degrees instead of a little, which causes me to run off the track. It happens in all modes.

Are you using an Xbox 360 pad? Or something that is recognized as a 360 pad?

This has been occurring for me since launch. Using a 360 pad.

In addition, using the face buttons also affects my steering. If I hold down RB, for example, the stick is treated like a linear key, so it feels like I'm driving with keyboard controls.
This is when I use a custom profile, as it's the only way I can get the pad to work. I suffer from the throttle issue when using the default 360 profiles.

Yep, seen all of these myself (I use a 360 pad on my work laptop) and I've told the teams about it. Not sure of an ETA for a fix yet but it's on the list.

Im on a logitech F710 controller which is recognised as a 360pad. However when i use the "xbox360" settings in game, i can't seem to throttle. So i had to use a "custom" settings instead.

Just updated the game and went on time trial to see if the update had got rid of this problem and it had, however when I loaded up my championship career the car began to drift to the right again, then when I tried time trial again it had started to drift to the right, this happens on all game modes including online (Xbox one).

It came back to me, but I changed my xbox controller from custom to preset and it fixed the issue.

I have had this problem from 20/07/15 Patch. Varies, sometime left and sometimes right, but mainly left. Goes away after about a lap.

The bug has now disappeared on mine after changing the control layout, I just had to create a new custom layout or use the presets.
