Drive like a legend in F1 2015

I'm driving with all assists off, Elite mode, because I like the game in the simulator style. I think F1 2015 should have a theoretical training.
Then came me some doubts.

  • How to make the perfect start in the race?
Because I see the AI doing, it accelerates up the middle (I can see on HUD) before starting. And when the lights off, AI press on the throttle with many force, and loose, all quickly. Then get low, accelerating gradually of a varied way.

  • Is the time to brake in corner. I need to start to brake far of the corner, or near?
  • I have to slam on the brakes to the extreme, or smoothly?
  • And change the gears down, fast or slow?

Tell me all the details.

Doing the braking before the corner seems the fastest for me .. let me know if you experienced otherwise. If you down shift too fast while approaching the corner, you might lock up the rear and have oversteer .. I think it should be fast but not too fast.

Hi mate I found the best way to brake and change gear is being very smooth and try not to turn the wheel much (at first) In a big braking zone (turn 1 monza) start with 90-100% force then change down the gears slowly (to avoid the rear stepping out) as you get to 6th gear release pressure on the brake (approx 10-15%) as you keep changing down gear release more and more pressure on the brake, by the time your in 3rd you want to only be about 50% pressure/travel. This can take time to learn but if you can master late braking without lockups you will find a huge amount of lap time! At first keep the steering straight when braking as the tyres lock alot easier if trying to turn and brake at the same time. Wont explain trailbraking so try to get all the braking done before you turn into a corner. As for corners where you only come down 2-3 gears (parabolica) start with approx 50% pressure and release again as the gears come down. Remember you are always releasing pressure as the car slows down, if your still at 70% pressure for the turn in of turn 1 the wheels are chance to lock up. Gears should be quick but not really quick, watch some F1 onboard (or the AI) and see how they change if struggle there. For learning no assists monza is prob the best track as it has everything in a short lap. Try to be smooth rather than quick and the speed will come :)

Hi mate im finding trailbraking very affective in getting my times down a little. Was struggling at first with locking up but after few hours of practice found this is helping me alot.

Yeah, I change gear before corner, but not much before. And I brake strong. Actually it happens what you said. I will be smoother.

Dont quite understand all the post but the perfect start doesnt happen unless running tcs in the F1 games sadly. I do ok but may loose a place or two to the AI. The way I do it is hold the revs approx half way through the lights (rpm display on dash) for the start and as soon as I get to approx 20mph I change up to second gear (to avoid wheelspin) Imo as soon as your in second gear accelerate as you would out of a slow speed corner. Dont try to steer if the rears are still spinning as you will get the back out and possibly spin (least loose time) Cant say no more really as Imo as soon as your in second gear its like coming out of a hairpin. Like I say I dont get the same launch as the AI but I only loose 2 places max normally

While trail baking is effective, i'd stay away from it until all the other aspects of how to drive quickly have been learned. A good exit always gains more time unless theres another slow turn following right after. And if trail braking goes wrong its gonna be ugly ;)

Everything else has been mentioned above already. Be smooth, dont overdrive the car and brake rather early while focusing on exit. And another important thing: look ahead, much farther than you would do when driving on a road. Your eyes should always be a step ahead, so focus on apex while breaking and on exit while turning.

And just to emphasize the "drive smooth" thing: I became a much quicker driver once i stopped trying to be quick, mind boggling isnt it? But true and applies to both, sim and real life racing

And to get a good launch at race start, try to keep your revs quite low, about 50-60% and shift to second gear as soon as possible.

Record is like 1.21 or something. But i think thats a glitch. Real times are +-1.24.....Fastest AI is +-1.26.7.....
