Traction, traction, traction...

Recommended Posts

I'm playing on XB1 with a pad and I'm really, really, really struggling with getting the power down. Is anybody else having problems, and can they shed any light on how to get better? I must've put maybe 12-15 hours into the game now, and racing at Malaysia in the Merc on Expert and the other cars are simply VASTLY better on keeping the rear in check. Sector two through T9-11 feels virtually impossible to get right. I'm not using any assists.

I feel your pain!

Malaysia is such a hard track to stay competitive on (legend difficulty). I struggle immensely in sector 3, and the traction the AI have on the final hairpin turn is ridiculous!

I'm fine in qualifying but the race is a different story! Could do with some help with setup actually!

Is there a way to change the deadzones of the controller?

Just have to be gentle and feather the throttle. Especially through the gears 1-3.
Precisely as you say sir.

For those struggling, only get on the throttle about 25% in gears 1-3. Once in 3rd start putting the power down at a steady rate.  If you feel the backend moving out on you, let off the throttle just enough for it to correct. Then resume putting the power down.

I should mention the straighter your front wheels are, the faster the power can be put down without losing the rear end. Practicing with auto transmission in time trials @ Sepang will help you focus on just your throttle input.

I am still learning how to tame this beast as well and another factor I have found to affect how well you excellerate out of a turn is how well you enter the turn. This ( for me) really seems to be important for turn 4 in Shanghai.
