Race setup

Recommended Posts

So every time you move from practice to Q1 to Q2 to Q3 all of the setup changes reset to default, (apart from the ones bound by parc ferme rules). So in qualifying this means that front and rear wing are reset after each phase.

Since there is no way to view your wing settings prior to a race, does anyone knowif the settings from Q3 are fully saved for the race?

And also what is the point of the strategy option prior to the race? Every time you open it it just says 'this is the only viable strategy'....!?!? The only thing it lets you change is your starting tyre which doesn't reflect the current rules with tyres anyway?

Can anyone from codemasters explain this? Or anyone at all?

Thanks

I do not know, but whatever I do, to be fair, I put parc ferme rules off, because it's risky, the next thing is I get the default setup in the race, and tyre wear is ridiculous. I save my setup for the race, and I use the same setup for qualifying and the race, since I focus myself on beating those AI DRS cheese, and I have no problems in qualifying, I can get the car on pole without any problems, so I mainly focus on the race. So, I just use qualifying setup as race setup, then save it, then load it in the race.

Wow, just made a thread on nearly the same thing. If/when I restart a race the car doesn't seem optimized anymore so I can only assume my setup is reset.

I've long suspected that it's lost or sometimes is lost between sessions, as you mentioned, so I turn off parc ferme and reload setup every. single. quali/race session.

Yeah its all a bit odd.

current rules are you must start on Q2 tire choice right?

I am going with the turn off parc ferme. Then just play fair with my setup.

What about doing the pro season like I am currently? All rules are forced. I always reload my setup before a race tho so I shouldn't have a problem right

Yeah, I opt to load my setup once in the race session but of course it doesn't allow you to view it so no way of knowing for sure that it's kept all your settings. I assume the fuel defaults to 100kg pre-race too.

You can veiw your wing settings, when you check them on the grid they've changed to a default settings so that tells me the rest of my setup has.

Thanks guys, it is a strange one.... I don't mind redoing my setup each session as I only really alter wing and fuel settings, but it's just the fact you can't view them in the race so I guess I'll try turning parc ferme off.... Not like we know if it works anyway, although the fact you can swap your tyres on the grid even when you made it to Q3 kinda suggests it doesn't!!! Haha
