MBKF1 91 Posted November 7, 2016 Have recently gotten into Tesseract's music, really superb musicians, all of them.I think I've got a slight man crush on Dan Tompkins' voice, he's just a beast when singing live. Incredible vocal range, beautiful tone, and just always so solid on the notes, even when singing top C's and D's (which is absolutely insane, I'm very envious).https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iy5mxqnJEVE
MBKF1 91 Posted December 5, 2016 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_XJ_s5IsQcSnarky Puppy are probably the most talented collection of instrumentalists you could ever wish to find. This song never fails to leave my jaw on the ground, in pure awe at Cory Henry's ridiculous solo at the end.
Mexicola 10 Posted July 7, 2017 A Perfect Circle are absolutely incredible. I'd go as far as to say I prefer them over Tool.
MBKF1 91 Posted July 10, 2017 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NpqmGx7meQwI just love this record, for so many reasons. Gorgeous harmony, brilliant chord progressions throughout, supported by a great bass line, a melody that rises and falls appropriately, I could go on.I wish the Bee Gees did more of this type of singing, using the full voice rather than falsetto. I admire their writing enormously, but the rest of their hits just use too much falsetto for me, it overpowers the rest of the composition. This song is an exception.EDIT: Someone else I've been listening to loads recently is Bruno Mars, the whole 24K album, just incredible. I honestly think he's the most talented performer / writer / voice in music right now. Just watch this live performance below, the control over his voice at 2:42 (which has the most amazing higher range of anyone I can think of btw), just incredible.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wd1Iz6j4WC0
MBKF1 91 Posted August 14, 2017 I seem to be going through a 1990s R&B / love ballad phase at the moment. I'm not complaining though, the chord progressions are so juicy, you don't get clever music written like that these days. So darn good.
