AI Faster on Straights [SOLVED}

Recommended Posts

Thought I would go out and test what people were commenting about remapping your controller to improve the speed on the straights, here are my results:
Using X Button:

Using R2 Button:

Well try playing with a button that is not R2 with no traction help.

Some of the bugs I´ve seen in this game, no words.... how is that possible being faster if you use another button :/

I will still continue to use L2/RT regardless as it is much easier for no traction.
But codies need a fix for this I just pray it comes to xbox soon.

Yep, just changed my control settings midway through the race in australia.

X is way faster than RT. This stinks.

I was toiling away in 10th with RT, had lost two spots from my 8th qualy position both spots lost on the front straight where the cpu was speeding by me.

changed it to X and kept pace if not gained on the cpu. Instead of before when I race and lose a spot or two and fight off the cpu and then the race is over, once I made the change to X I gained time per lap and over took 5 cars one by one over the remaining 11 laps.

I sure hope CM reads this thread and fixes it.

Ok it gets stranger...racing in china, I am slower with RT, I change to X, i am quicker but my input mappings freaked out and the camera was swiveled weird and I could not fix it. I then switched back to default RT accelerate and the cam was fixed so I left it.

i then noticed I was as quick with RT now.

so it's like you need to start the race, pause, change controls, unpause, then pause again and switch it to default if you want to be quick with RT.

i could get up to 203mph with a toro rosso on that fast china straight with the "fixed" RT for comparison testing.

You can use the right stick to accelerate that way you still get the analogue input you do with the R2/RT button

This has to be sorted out by Codies for the next patch.

i just did 4 quick 3 lap  races on various tracks. Each one I would start preset 1 with the R2 button acceleration on the first lap.
then change to using x. Then pause as fast as I can and switch it back to R2.

i would be slow on the straights and the car feels a little lifeless in the corners. As soon as I changed it and changed it back the R2 works again and I actually start to make up time on the AI cars.

I have no clue why making that R2 to X back to R2 fixes it both it sure does for me.

its unacceptable that the default control scheme is faulty.

I just made a video of a 3 lap race in canada. On the first lap I swap the buttons while racing/pausing/flashback and go off the track while making the changes.

but you can see in the video once I make the change the car goes properly and I pull away. Before the change the cpu is all over me and I am holding them up. I will post it on youtube and link it here.

Would all be solved if they had implemented even a basic controller/wheel calibration screen as many have requested.

The video. Where I run off the track At :44 is where I make the change and then with the R2 button working right I race away

So what's better R2 OR X?
last night I tried the right thumb stick as accelerate and brake like I use to use on Forza but had trouble remapping some of the other buttons so went back to R2.

And yes making a good setup helps a lot. But if you switch the default control scheme and switch it back your good setup gets even better.

a good setup and a properly working R2 button makes this game really fun.

@LiteralZero Is this something you guys are working on?
Yup. We've known about this for a while and I've posted in previous threads about it. There's work going on to get it sorted as quickly as we can.

@Literzero
Is this a known problem for just those on controllers or is it a problem for wheel users to as I also seem to find the AI are quicker on the straights.

Hammer, have you tried what I am doing to "solve" it temporarily? I pause and go the the control setup and change to a different control scheme and then switch it back to the one I want and then exit back to the race.

it fixes the R2 acceleration issue for the current session, and sometimes for the next session too. I would be curious to see if you notice any difference putting this method to use on a wheel.

Yes I tried that but it didn;t make any difference that I could see.

However, I did a quick test at Brazil and what I found was that the AI were reaching 205-210 mph on the start/finish straight while I was only reaching 195 (I made sure no DRS was involved). My speed is the correct speed for this track so here at least it's the AI that are just too fast rather than a controller issue.

I am not saying your findings are incorrect just that here at least the problem is AI and not wheel \ controller.
