Hardcore/realistic damage mode

I can roll my car really severely and still have all my components at 90%+ health, which seems pretty forgiving. I also think the wear needs to be ramped up on car-breaking rallies like Greece. Glancing off a rockwall at 100kph should instantly knock your wheel out of alignment. Being able to repair every 2nd stage, I've yet to see anything go below 80%. Which option below would you prefer?

i agree, but not hardcore damage, but make realistic damage, like broken suspentions, brakes failure, broken gearbox, engine failure because high temperatures etc...

I just did a massive "marathon" league rally with limited service, basically trying to force mechanical retirements.

On SS1 I center punched a tree amazingly hard and went on to crash my car heavily in a few stages after that. Finished the rally without issue. I really don't know what it would take to get a retirement, aside from Monte-Carlo snowbanks.
