Scrench 0 Posted June 17, 2014 I'm currently using the new Fanatec Forza wheel and pedals, but many of the features of the game don't work with this setup, even though I've tried many combinations and variations. I see a lot of fast times on YouTube with Logitech G25's, but they aren't made anymore and I don't know if the users were on PC, Xbox or Playstation. If you are successfully racing with good times and can access all of the features of the game through Steam on PC, please tell me what wheel setup you are using.Thank You,Richard
IcelandTBR 0 Posted June 19, 2014 I use the Logitech G27 for both PC and PS3 racing and it works great. My only gripe is not being able to access the fuel map through the button on the wheel and instead having to free a hand and blindly feel for the D-pad on the shifter. It's real easy to lose concentration and run off the circuit, but life can't be perfect, right?
Scrench 0 Posted June 21, 2014 IcelandTBR,Thank you for your reply. With your G27, are you able to make really sharp hairpin turns? For instance, at Monaco, turn 5 I think is the hairpin. My setup will not allow me to cut that corner sharply, I always have to use the entire width of the track from wall to wall just to make it around, regardless of speed. Needless to say this slows me down considerably and makes passing someone impossible.
Scrench 0 Posted June 21, 2014 Thinking about the Thrustmaster Ferrari F1 Integral wheel and pedals. Anyone have experience with it?
IcelandTBR 0 Posted June 22, 2014 Yes. With the G27, you also have the option to adjust the wheel sensitivity to your liking. If you like a high sensitivity response or a low one with dead zones then it is completely adjustable. I've thought about about the Thrustmasters F1 wheel, but don't feel like shelling out all that cash and am not sure if it's worth it.
Scrench 0 Posted June 22, 2014 IcelandTBR,I feel exactly the same. I think there is a level where the wheel/pedal combination is not going to help you go any faster, which makes the wheel I already have theoretically competitive with anything else out there, and better than many quality-wise, even though it doesn't allow me all of the game options. I'm really hoping Codemasters makes it compatible for 2014. I am wondering too if upgrading the standard CSR pedal to the CSR Elite with the different brake setup would make any difference. I just completed the Silverstone race in career and ended up 9th, 6th overall in standings, but, I immediately switched to Grand Prix and drove the Ferrari, Mercedes and Red Bull and won by several seconds each time, easily, without using KERS. This just makes me think I need to hold out until I get into a better car, and makes me regret choosing the Force India. I should have gone with Marussia (which I didn't know was actually a Ferrari, or I would have been all over it since I'm a Ferrari guy). I've also noticed recently with my Fanatec CSR that although the Force India car can't make sharp turns and is noticeably slower than others, it works fairly well with the better cars, Ferrari, Mercedes and Red Bull. I just haven't been offered any contracts to move into a better car yet. When do they start to come in and when am I supposed to start getting car upgrades from my own team? I'm destroying my teammate, but haven't seen anything on that yet either. Thanks for your advice,Richard
satyaban 0 Posted July 11, 2014 Scrench:I have used Logitech GTs for all my racing and recently broke the mounts on my second one. I take the blame for the brake because I can get too rough. I was doing some research for a new wheel and decided on the GT27 for my PC. I looked at the Thrustmaster reviews and saw some of the same complaints reoccurring so that along with the prices made the decision to by the Logitech easy. Did you search EBay and Amazon for the GT25, they have them although maybe refurbished.Lastly I don't think your turning problem with the Force India is inherent to the car. I also think that Force India is a step up from Marussia and Caterham machines. Have you tried different advanced wheel settings?
Scrench 0 Posted July 27, 2014 You guys have seriously made me want to buy a Logitech G27, but I'm still going to stick it out with the Fanatec CSR, at least until I get a decent contract offer to find out what a better car will do with it. I got an offer from Sauber, but refused. I'm holding out for something better.Scrench
umbraaeternus 0 Posted August 2, 2014 I use two wheels. My main one is the Logitech G27. Great wheel, a bit lacking on FF, but overall great.I travel a lot, so sometimes I wished for a more portable thing to use on my laptop. So I bought a SRW-S1 about a week ago.I was a bit skeptical at first, but you get to love it once you learn the ropes on it. Great little chubby racing wheel. LED support and everything, you can even configure all the buttons. Not having a mount for it is awkward though, and I haven't gotten around the sensitivity configuration just yet, so I prefer the Logitech G27.
