F1 2015 race strategy problem

Hi all. I'm new to F12015 and seem to be running into a recurring problem. In Championship season on 50% race mode, I cannot change the race strategy and starting tyres. It always makes me do 2/3 stops. Also, the AI are always on a 1/2 stop strategy making it very difficult for me to win. Why is this so?

Hi,
do you driver with a wheel or pad ?
Do u use traction control and abs ?
Which fuel setting u use ?

All can have influence to the tyrewear- i use to drive 100% races an need always 1 stop more than the AI-
only if i drive very very smooth changing fuel to lean in slow corners, changing brake balance and accelarete withoput spin
i can safe tyres and go to the box like the AI, but iits  very difficult for paddrivers -
so mostly i push push and make 1 box more to win the race (expert mode)
