FPS/Tearing on XBOX post-patch?

Recommended Posts

Hey all, I just wanted to get a consensus here as to what you're experiencing post-patch. I have found the tearing & framerate drop to be better, but not perfect. I'm wondering what you have all experienced, so see if it is in fact better, or if I just think it is better because of the patch...

it is better no doubt, the fps has improved but the tearing is still there, wish they permanently remove it though

I've only done a few laps of Catalunya post patch, yes it's improved but tearing still very much there. I am happy about having the info panel back though. Was quite hard tire managing without it.

Maybe this is the bug thread I am looking for!

I purchased the digital version of the game on Xbox One once I was sure that the patch had come out and people were saying it improved the game - they were able to compare to the situation at launch, and apparently there were some improvements. I can only go on what I have seen myself though.

In the middle of my screen there seems to be a glitched area where most of the tearing and fps slowdowns occur. I don't think I am lapping any slower than I would be, I can usually hold it together when the tearing etc is occurring (probably occurs for 15 seconds out of every minute, on and off especially at busy sections of the track where there is a lot of shit to render) but its so annoying and becomes a big problem when racing close with the AI (zero interest in online ATM, hoppers sound plan stupid and lazy).
I also seem to come across an issue where the brake markers actually appear way later than they should, and this also seems to be the case with some of the opponents cars, but as that's mostly something that's rendering in the middle of the screen it could be related to this main issue of a patch in the middle of the screen where everything is, for want of a better word, bolloxed.

Its on the internal drive as I have no intention of spending money on a USB 3.0 drive just because of the substandard build of the Xbox.

Is the info panel working properly for you? Almost every time I change fuel mixture, it doesn't update in the panel, unless I turn the pane off then on again. I wonder if the tyre/damage info is also inaccurate? As I haven't played much yet since the patch.

Tearing ( like you describe)  is  what i've got on the cd version of the game, my game is installed on a usb3 7200 rpm  hdd ,  play with tx  wheel from thrustmaster with f1 rim.

I'm going to sell my xbox one version and play it on my pc because i've no tearing and all the buttons are mappable on the wheel (lot of duplicate buttons on xbox one, what a shame) :/

I've only played for around an hour post patch so not too sure about the info panel with regards to fuel mix. The tire damage panel seems to be ok for me and certainly helps with managing the tires.

This raises a good question. You make it sound like the tearing is exaggerated when playing from the disc? If that's true, can someone post here some tips on setting up the xbox so that you can install the game on an external HD, and not need the disc to play? Or is the only option to buy the game digitally so the entire game is on the hard drive?

Even with the discs now it installs the games. My mate brought FIFA round to play, it made me install it, but I thought this was as it was that free weekend of EA games, so I could continue to play without his disc for the weekend. So I cleared the HDD of FIFA on the monday, then a few weeks later he was back round and brought FIFA. Again it installed the disc even though I just wanted to play a few kickoff matches against him.

As far as I see it if you have the games installed to the Internal HDD as you would expect, you're more likely to have these issues. Why did MS opt for such a shit HDD :(

Only reason for the disc is because the install is quicker off a disc than over XBL. If I am wrong about this please someone explain how to run a game off disc.

I thought the whole game was installed to the HDD and the disc is just there to prove you actually own the game.

I had the disc version of FIFA 16. Got rid of it then bought it on Xbox marketplace a week later and the file size was identical.

Hmmm, I thought it installed a lot of files, but still needed to read off of the disc for something more than just verification.

So the real issues is the speed of the hard drive? Has anyone installed it on a faster external, and noticed better performance?

I know that load and install times are faster with a better external HDD as proven in this IGN article...
