F1 Race timing

Recommended Posts

The transponder position on the car is given in the appendix to the Technical Regulations on P106 and is approximately at the driver's head location.

The alternate position is near the centre line of the car and at the intersection with the front axle.

Alright, then I got my info wrong I guess.

There is a double timing beam at the Start / Finish and a manual system based on TV coverage. It's really quite interesting when you look into it.

Redundancy in the transponders, GPS locators, etc. It would appear that the primary location of the transponder is at the front of the tub on the underside of the car and the ones near the driver's head are the redundant ones.

I wouldn't be so hard on yourself, but I'll move the topic to chat.
