F1 2015 on Xbox one is a terrible game.

Recommended Posts

Ok I just signed up here to say this is a terrible game. I would love a refund. I just bought this game less than half an hour ago.

It plays like a slideshow. Frame rate is terrible. Frame drop on every single corner.

I normally play forza 5 and enjoy it immensely for how fluid the game feels and how I manage to forget I'm playing a game and get totally immersed into it.

I can't do that with f1 2015 with my Xbox one. The frame rate issue is a game breaking issue. I haven't seen any warnings like this from other people. So here's my warning:

Buy forza 5 or get forza 6 very soon. Don't read this post and think that I'm wrong about this unless you can return the game after you've bought it. I read many reviews and nobody, not one that I read mentioned the frame rate being so choppy. It's a total immersion killing experience.

Perhaps I would be able to play this if it was my first ever driving game. I've seriously had a lot more fun playing out run (the Japanese 60fps version) on the Sega Saturn with the wheel. It was just as smooth as forza 5 on the xbox one. And that system is a lot older than the xbox one, obviously.

Why other people don't notice or don't care about frame rate, is a mystery to me. But I can give you my view and warning to stay away from this game. Make sure you can return it. I bought it digitally and cannot return it.

Don't make the mistake of thinking I'm somehow "trolling" or wanting any kind of negative attention from making this post on this forum. I signed up here to make this post as a warning.

I wish I could get my 59.99 plus tax back.

I'll be playing forza 5. Then 6 in a few days and I'll be hoping code masters don't make f1 2016.

And yet, dozens of YouTubers are making their F1 2015 series on Xbox One, and have no obvious frame rate issues...

(And sorry, you can hope all you like, but CM have the licence for 2016...)

Are you on about the online lag as that was on all consoles but patches seem to have made bits better an other bits worse. I have no probs with of line racing with regards to shitty picture.

YouTube is capped at 30fps. Loads of people have no issues with frame rate. It's a game killer for me. Bummer about 2016. I hope they make a success out of it this time, but I'm not going to be first in line.

No I'm not talking about online lag. I wish that's all it was. I say was because I won't be playing it any longer than the 5 minutes I took to realise how bad it is.

I'm a Scotsman too. I don't accept sub par performance of a game about a sport about innovation and inspiration. They dropped the ball I don't relate to people who don't feel the choppy frames. It's like me saying, I feel drunk playing this, I can't control the car. And then people on YouTube or twitch are sitting there happy playing it.

Play a game that moves at 60fps. Don't try and tell me there's no problem with this game though because that's nonsense.

Before anyone goes mistakingly thinking this is a European issue with the pal system, no. I'm in Michigan playing on a north American xbox one. And yes my tv does have hdmi. Forza motorsport 5 plays wonderfully smooth.

I'll be getting 6. And I wish gran turismo was multi platform. Hah. Anyway im sure this f1 game is fun for some people. Have at it. But Senna wouldn't have played it.

Im on Xbox one and it's completely fine. And YouTube isn't capped at 30fps. There are options when your viewing (depending on what the person has recorded on) to watch in 720p60 or 1080p60. Maybe try uninstalling and reinstalling? Or loading from an external hardrive as that speeds up the Xbox one a lot.

Ahh so they finally have 60fps on YouTube. Well I gladly stand corrected. Very good.

I wish the game ran at a suitable speed. The hard drive interface is fine in the xbone in my experience. I've played need for speed 2 on pc years ago with a hard drive a lot slower. I used to also play Indianapolis 500 on a 486 "dx" 50Mhz, with a piece of crap integrated Cirrus Logic 1mb graphics card. It ran circles round this game.

Re installing it? I might delete it. Lol.

Interesting reading on frame rate issues on Xbox one and another game:

https://forums.undeadlabs.com/threads/game-is-awesome-but-frame-rate-xbox-one-ruins-it-for-me.48458/

Funnily though the poster here would be happy with 30fps for whatever game they're speaking about. But the person here is obviously not getting 30fps, while other people are, or claim to be playing fine.

I am actually able to enjoy the halo franchise in its entirety at 60fps thanks to the master chief edition. So don't go thinking I have anything against xbox. Clearly some people are experiencing problems while others aren't.

Now it's either a hardware issue, software issue, or both. But I can assure anybody reading this that the problem I have with f1, is what I'd call judder, tearing, inconsistent frame rate. (There's actually a YouTube video showing the unlocked frame rate moving around between high 30s to medium 50 fps.

I could actually deal with the rate staying the same. But I just can't abide the frame rate fluctuating and causing a very juddery feeling.

There are visible signs that the game isn't running smoothly. And then there's also how that feels when driving. It's unacceptable on my Xbox one.

Anyway just trying to raise awareness of this issue so that this franchise doesn't actually go to shit. It's already classed as a niche game. In my opinion it's a rushed niche game. I just wish this wasn't so.

I want us all to enjoy driving a formula one car at break neck speeds. Not just some of us.

Any way, yes I'm pissed off at basically losing just over $60 on this turd.

Edit: for anyone interested in reading the article I linked to, the game that they're talking about is slightly older, the zombie survival game, State of decay. I think it looks like quite a good game so I'm saddened to see problems with it too, tbh.

Yea. If gt7 is any good I'll basically have to buy a ps4 just to play it. I probably will too. So good on Sony for that. Oh for anyone interested gt6 has a Senna tribute that came out in May on the anniversary of his passing. Great idea. As far as I know it was/is free dlc so there's no cashing in on his fame.

I have been enjoying this game! I raced Spa all week since Sunday. Play the game at hard without assists to really get how good the handling and physics are. I cannot say I actively notice frame rate dips unless it's a replay and even then it is negligible. There is some screen tearing but not awful. I am growing to love this game and hope the new patch comes soon

Maybe the console was installing patch while you was playing. This game has a shit load of bugs but frame rate just isn't that bad.

Well I'm not playing it despite paying the money for it and not being able to return it. I'm glad some people are finding enjoyment from the game.

Don't give up. I went bonkers when I first played and as you, I signed up here and let a bit of steam of as per my first post. Since then I've managed to get around a few problems. Under the bugs and glitches there is a brilliant wheel to wheel racing game.

aaahhh, the forza driving genie.I forgot how much that game drove me crazy because the steering only allowed certain amount of rotation relative to the speed. It would make you go straight off the track then give you the steering wheel rotation and let you turn the steering wheel after your off track .That and the steering animation would not turn the wheel more than a inch or two in a sharp turn.

Im enjoying it on the xbox. It has some screen tearing and isn't smooth 60 like forza, but I'm still having fun with single player. I think it's a nice foundation at its core, and I can tolerate some issues in a first release of a generation. This game has a shorter development cycle than Forza or Pcars.
