Chain Bear has a solid piece on Tilke's tracks

It's almost like he's fond of jigsaw puzzles. Sometimes he spits out something like this. Sometimes he manages beauties like this. He either built or renovated:

  • Red Bull Ring (technically just renovated but it was a huge overhaul)
  • Sepang (built)
  • Bahrain (built)
  • Shanghai (built)
  • Istanbul (built)
  • Singapore (built)
  • Buddh (built)
  • COTA (built)
  • Baku (built)
  • Korea (built)
  • Mexico (renovated but significantly)
  • Hockenheimring (renovation)
  • Fuji Speedway (renovation)
  • Nurburgring (renovation)

A handful of solid entries in there. However he also designed from scratch or renovated:

  • Abu Dhabi
  • Sochi

Really like the Red Bull Ring. Never raced in Sepang, Istanbul, Buddh, Korea and Nurburgring, but the first three here are of fame and well regarded by fans and drivers alike, as far as I know. And Bahrain, Shanghai, COTA and Baku may have sections that displease some people, but they all have character and I personally love racing on them. Singapore is also a hell of an event on the calendar.

That may well be the video that I was referencing, yeah!

I think one of the bigger complaints is that it's all a little too safe now.  I don't mean in terms of drivers not having monstrous accidents as nobody wants to see that, but more along the lines of there's so much run off that you're not punished for mistakes.

Some tracks are decent but there is a sense that it's basically the same cookie-cutter that's doing them all. That being said; some of them have rather beautiful scenery. Others are limited based on geography but I think he's generally done an okay job with what he's got to work with.

I've been wondering whether this is made by CM or not, the graphics, animation, and physics certainly did look like it was from our game:

What a dull circuit, reminds me of skiing, left-right-left-right... Can I swap this for Turkey (please?) 😄

Herman Tilke designed some of my favourite tracks and some of my most hated. It is like with the game love and hate. Sometimes I love it, and sometimes I hate it. I hope in the future I will love it more 🙂

Has he designed all the grandstands on the tracks too? Has he? THan he had designed the most innovative looking grandstands. Sepang, China, Bahrain and Pitlane straights with innovative looking pitlane buildings and grandstands.

@MadEvilBeavis76 I think Tilke's studio also has grandstands and track surroundings as a forte. One of the reasons for corporations actually going after them for their track renovations and projects. Tilke's designs probably incorporate both stands and buildings in the design instead of simply leaving a blank area for whoever to fill in.

And I wouldn't be surprised if some of his shortcomings come from the contractee requirements for buildings and amenities.

That's the most annoying bug imo

Didn’t Jeddah get blown up by the Death Star in rogue one

BREAKING NEWS

Due to the complete destruction of the Jeddah race track, FOM had confirm the Death Star Grand Prix will be replacing it on the 2021 calendar.

"We're very happy to announced our cooperation with the Galactic Empire and host our first ever Death Star Grand Prix in 2021, Empire united over all, we race as one."

Fans reaction:

"Will it be included in the F1 2021 game 😍?"

"Didn't the Death Star already modelled from other games?? Should be easy to implement it straight into the F1 game then!🤬"

"Is it gonna be design by Tilke again? 🤢"

Was the track blown up by a fan keen to avoid a boring race I wonder?

(I fear Zandvoort is going to be a complete snooze-fest too, so if a temporary closure could be arranged to add a race somewhere more interesting actually...)

Typical crazy fun time Dutch tho.  In a completely flat country they build a track like that on the only hill...  it’s hard enough getting around the rollercoaster.   But it’s a pain in the ass trying to avoid ai when overtaking or being overtaken

I'd love to be proved wrong but I fear overtaking action in real F1 is going to be rather Monaco-like in its frequency.

It's a fun track to drive when there aren't other cars in the way though 🙂.

from the track layout i would say that there is no spot that is ideal for overtaking.
And since it will be a track through the city (like singapore or baku), it should also be quite narrow.
Doesn't looks like a fun track to race.

That's the overriding fear with the track.  It'll be a great experience to hear all the Dutch fans at their home race (as they're pretty decent already in Belgium and Austria) but like Monaco, and even Imola to an extent , the cars have got too big and too quick to make the racing as exciting on the older tracks as it once was. I think the atmosphere will be amazing but the race a little flat.

That being said, i'd like to see Hamilton/Bottas trying to race out the circuit after punting Max off on the first lap again.

A French streamer, Hydro, interviewed a certain Dan from Codemasters, he would have told him that the tracks would be available in September and Hydro repeated it in two of his videos on Youtube

Well if that is true it may confirm that it's probably coming in with the new Podium Pass. If i'm not wrong it ends in the first half of September.

Yeah, there's a guy called Daniel on another site who says they're coming next month.  I've no idea who he is but all the others treat him as a god so I imagine he must have more intricate knowledge than us mere mortals who feed on scraps of rumour.

Supposedly the 3rd week of September.  Absolutely zero proof and without official notice from CM, it's just hearsay.

Did he say all tracks? As far as I know Jeddah is still under construction.
